Update 0.5.5 — Voice Chat Rework & Multiplayer Fixes
Hello, dear players!
First of all, we’d like to thank everyone who continues to play, share feedback, report issues, and send crash reports. Every message we receive helps us better understand what needs attention and makes it easier for us to find problems that can be difficult to reproduce on our side.
Your feedback is an important part of improving the game, and we truly appreciate the time you take to share it with us.
This update brings a major rework of the in-game voice chat system, along with several multiplayer, weapon, inventory, and stability improvements.
Voice Chat
The voice chat system has received a significant internal rework.
- Fixed Open Mic being interrupted when opening the Inventory, Map, Settings, containers, and other UI screens.
- Fixed voice chat behavior when entering and leaving vehicles.
- Fixed issues with enabling and disabling the Walkie-Talkie and Megaphone.
- Reworked how voice data is routed between players.
- Improved reliability of proximity voice, Walkie-Talkies, Intercoms, lobby voice, and other voice channels.
- Voice playback now follows the pawn currently controlled by the player instead of being tied specifically to the player character.
- Added persistent voice playback streams to reduce interruptions and recover more gracefully if an audio stream stalls.
- Improved handling of positional voice effects and AI hearing.
Please note: Work on voice chat and the systems connected to it is still ongoing. While we continue refining these systems, you may occasionally encounter some minor artifacts or unexpected behavior.
One currently known issue affects the voice volume indicator. Several seconds — or in some cases up to a minute — after a match begins, the indicator may stop responding correctly. If this happens, simply Alt+Tab out of the game and back in to restore it.
This issue is purely cosmetic. It does not affect voice chat itself, whether other players can hear you, or whether monsters are able to hear and react to your voice.
Weapons & Inventory
- Fixed cases where firearms and melee weapons could attack twice due to network prediction.
- Improved automatic weapon behavior and input release handling.
- Improved weapon behavior under poor network conditions.
- Dropped and picked-up items now preserve their runtime state correctly.
- Weapon ammunition, device charge levels, and active states should no longer reset to their default values after being dropped and picked up again.
Multiplayer
- Improved player initialization and PlayerState synchronization.
- Improved late-join handling.
- Improved seamless travel handling.
- Improved equipment synchronization and several related network edge cases.
Stability
- Improved animation-system stability, particularly around equipment changes, linked animation layers, Control Rig, and parallel animation evaluation.
- Added additional diagnostics for Landscape and World Partition related crashes to help us track down remaining rare streaming issues.
Integrated GPUs
- Added detection for integrated graphics hardware.
- Players using an integrated GPU will now receive a warning before entering the game and can choose whether to continue at their own risk.
- A dedicated GPU is still strongly recommended.
As always, if you encounter any new issues, please let us know. Your reports help us track them down and continue improving the game.
Thank you for staying with us and for helping us make the game better!
