Overhaul Comeback (Revamp) Update Devlog #4

Akif Akdemir

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well and that life is treating you well.

Welcome to Overhaul Comeback (Revamp) Update Devlog 4.

I’m continuing to work on the complete overhaul update. I’ve reviewed all of the feedback, reviews, and criticism you’ve shared, and I’m moving forward based on them. Work is still ongoing on the map shown in the devlog images. Therefore, some structures and locations shown in the images may be different once the update is completed.

So, what are the main complaints about the current Early Access alpha version? According to the feedback, the game lacks proper guidance, the save system is insufficient because it does not support multiple slots, the quests are not clear enough, there is no key rebinding, the map is too large, the menus are too complicated, there are too many key combinations, and the optimization is insufficient. All of these issues are being completely addressed according to player requests as part of the Overhaul Comeback Update Revamp.

New menu & features

The new menu now includes features such as a framerate limit, field of view settings, key rebinding, color blindness modes, color style modes, upscaling and frame generation methods (NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR), total VRAM, VRAM usage, additional audio settings, and more.

The new menu has been completely redesigned from the ground up to provide a smoother and more streamlined experience.

Controls & Key rebinding (Wip) I received complaints from many players about the lack of key rebinding. Because of this, I worked on implementing a key rebinding system.

In the existing system, adding key rebinding required me to change many interaction and input systems, so I decided to include this feature as part of the revamp update.

The inputs shown in the image can now be changed. The rebinding menu shown in the image will be further detailed and refined; this is not the final version.

Upscaling and Frame Generation Section

Upscaling technologies have been integrated into the game as part of the revamp update. NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, NVIDIA Reflex, and Frame Generation are available.

On the AMD side, FSR technology has been included, but AMD Frame Generation is not available. This is because it causes conflicts with NVIDIA Frame Generation, so NVIDIA’s Frame Generation technology was preferred. Even when AMD Frame Generation was available, it did not provide the same level of performance as NVIDIA Frame Generation and also caused visual artifacts.

For this reason, only FSR upscaling is available on the AMD side.

Universal, on the other hand, is a fake upscaling method that works natively on every computer.

Color Style Modes

Color Style modes allow you to choose the visual color tone and overall color harmony you prefer in the game. Some players prefer bluish tones or highly saturated colors instead of more muted colors. Because of this, a fixed color style determined by the developer may not appeal to every player. For that reason, I wanted to give players a dedicated option to customize the game’s color style according to their own preferences.

Audio

There are now more audio settings available.

MAP & GRAPHIC QUALITY

Work on the new map is still ongoing. The work is not limited to simply modeling houses major improvements have also been made to graphical quality and visual detail. Foliage, roads, grass, textures, materials, environmental design, landscape design, density, and many other elements have all been created from scratch. The shading and lighting system has also been reworked.

Based on player complaints and requests, the map is being made smaller, denser, and more detailed compared to the alpha version. The map in the alpha version was about the size of five GTA 5 maps. Rather than keeping an excessively large, emptier, and less detailed map like the one in the alpha version, a smaller and fuller map is a much better choice for the game.

Below are new images from the new map. These images are in game screenshots captured while using ultra graphics settings. The images that include the character are direct real-time gameplay screenshots.

Since the update is still in development, many elements shown in the screenshots such as locations, structures, characters, and vehicles may differ once the update is finished.

Some examples of comparisons between the Early Access Alpha version and the new version:

The Overhaul Comeback Revamp Update is currently still in development. I am trying to do the best I can, and I hope I can turn the genuine negative reviews excluding the negative review attacks into positive ones.

If players enjoy the update, their support in this regard will be very important for the future of the game. As you can see from the devlog, I have not abandoned the game. In fact, I am working harder on it than ever before.

My goal is to make a real comeback and to try to make Caravanners one of the best caravan games available.

Thank you to everyone who purchased and supported the game during its unpolished Early Access alpha stage. Thanks to your support for Early Access, we will be able to have a much better Caravanners experience, as you can already see in this devlog.

More devlogs are coming.
