The Builder Update

The Builder Update
Our first CONTENT update — and it's a big one, built directly from your reviews and reports. The mine is no longer just something you dig DOWN. It's something you build UP.
A real placement system
- Open the build menu and a ghost preview follows your aim — green means it fits, red means it doesn't. Click to place. Everything places this way now.
- Your crew SEES your ghost while you aim — and they can tell whether the game will actually let you place it. Point at a cell and argue about it in voice like nature intended.
- Build mode: remove or MOVE anything that's been built. Removing refunds whoever pulls it. Yes — you can finally remove ladders.
- Every item has its own slot and its own key. The bar always shows all twelve, even the ones you can't afford yet, so you can see what the mine could become.
Twelve things to build
- Platforms — one-way floors. Jump up through them, stand on them, down+jump to drop through. Mount them at the top or bottom of a tile — half a tile is the difference between a reachable hop and a wasted one. Falling boulders smash them. ($45 for 5)
- Cushions — break ANY fall, no damage, bouncy. ($105 for 3)
- Signs — arrow markers you rotate in 45° steps. Mark the way home. ($40 for 5)
- Dirt — buy it, place it, repair earthquake damage or seal a gas path. Re-diggable, never resurrects ore. ($90 for 10)
- Dynamite — one stick destroys ONE cell of anything. Hard rock, bedrock, even boulders — it's the only thing in the game that removes them. 2.5s fuse. Don't light it in a gas pocket. Actually, do — once. ($130)
- Lamps — permanent light you nail to the world. Three sizes, and they bolt themselves to whatever's there: floor, wall or ceiling. They never burn out, never need refuelling, and they light the way for your whole crew. ($55 / $150 / $320)
- Elevator kits — 10, 20 and 30 floors. Drop one and it digs its own shaft to that depth. The fast lane, in three lengths. ($490 / $780 / $1050)
Light is a resource again
Your lantern now starts small — a tight pool you upgrade your way out of — and even the top-tier headlamp lights about two thirds of the screen instead of all of it. The dark is the point. It's also why lamps are cheap: light your own shaft one junction at a time, and the mine you've lit becomes a place instead of a tunnel.
Co-op, properly
- Fixed: in some cases - with 3 or 4 players, you couldn't see each other move. The host saw everyone, but two clients were invisible to one another. That's gone.
- You can watch a teammate's light shrink as their fuel burns down — if someone's circle is closing in, they need to get to the surface.
- Everything you buy is yours. Only the wallet is shared.
- Join mid-session into a fully built-out mine and it's all there — every platform, lamp, sign and shaft your crew already placed.
Also
- Full gamepad support for every bit of the above — the whole system was built pad-first, Steam Deck included.
- The pause menu fits on screen, and its settings actually scroll.
- The game tells you when Steam is offline instead of silently failing to make a lobby.
- The HUD always says whether you're in mine, build or remove mode.
- 10-language localization for all of it.
Old saves load fine. Everyone in a crew needs the update to play together.
Keep the reviews and reports coming — this update exists because of them.
