MAJOR UPDATE - NEW GAME MODES ARE HERE!
A major update has arrived for Don’t Fall!
Introducing our brand-new Game Modes system, with Section Speedruns, Team Deathmatch, improved controls, and more!
And this is only the beginning: the new Game Modes system gives us the foundation to bring more ways to play Don’t Fall in future updates!
NEW GAME MODES
We've added a brand-new Game Modes system, introducing completely new ways to play Don’t Fall!
Section Speedruns
You can now speedrun each individual section of the main map without having to complete an entire run.
Each section has its own leaderboard, so you can compete with other players and try to claim the best time on every part of the map.
Whether you want to practice a specific section or hunt for records, you can now jump straight into the part you want to master.
Team Deathmatch
A completely new team-based way to play Don’t Fall!
Players are divided into teams and compete for a chosen amount of time. When the timer reaches zero, the heights of every player on each team are combined. The team with the highest total altitude wins!
Climb as high as possible, use the Arsenal to disrupt the other team, and try not to lose all that precious altitude before the timer runs out.
More Game Modes to come
This new system was built with the future in mind.
Section Speedruns and Team Deathmatch are only the first Game Modes, and we're planning to add more ways to play Don’t Fall in future updates.
CONTROLS
We've made several changes to the default controls after watching players discover the game and seeing where the controls could be easier to understand.
Keyboard & Mouse
Constant Camera Rotation is now the default camera control.
We noticed that many new players struggled with having to hold Right Click to move the camera, so we've switched the default setting to the more accessible constant camera mode.
Prefer the old controls? They're still available in the settings.
We've added a new Jump to Shot option for Keyboard & Mouse.
When enabled, pressing the Jump key while aiming will fire your shot, instead of requiring you to release the mouse button.
Controller
Simplified Controls are now the default controller scheme.
We found this control scheme easier to understand when discovering the game for the first time.
Players who prefer having more control can still switch to Advanced Controls at any time in the settings.
CLASSIC MODE CHANGES
Simplified Leaderboards
We've reworked and consolidated the Classic Mode leaderboards.
There were previously too many separate leaderboards that didn't necessarily add meaningful competition.
Squad Mode Reworked
We've replaced Squad Mode with a more flexible Star Sharing system.
We found that having to wait for your squadmates could often create more frustration than cooperation. With the new system, you no longer have to wait for your friends to progress.
Instead, you can now choose whether or not to share your Stars with other players, allowing you to help your friends without slowing down your own climb.
Arsenal Always Enabled
The option to disable the Arsenal has been removed from Classic Mode.
We found that there was very little reason to play without it, so the Arsenal is now always enabled.
OTHER FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
- Several UI and navigation fixes.
- Fixed several achievements that could sometimes fail to unlock correctly.
- Fixed an issue where some players could get stuck in the Pause Menu UI when returning to the lobby.
- Tutorial fixes and improvements.
- Spectator Mode fixes and improvements.
- Various minor bug fixes.
- General improvements across the game.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who has played Don’t Fall, shared feedback, reported bugs, streamed the game, or competed for the leaderboards.
A lot of the changes in this update came from watching how you play the game and listening to your feedback, especially when it comes to controls and the overall first-time experience.
The new Game Modes system also opens up a lot of possibilities for the future, and we're excited to bring more modes and new ways to play Don’t Fall in upcoming updates.
See you on the leaderboards!
