Explosive Odds Turns 1!!

On September 24th EO was released on steam! The past year has been very exciting for us and the game has surpassed our expectations. We can't thank everyone enough for playing the game over this past year. Whether you joined events in our discord, shared your face creations, posted videos, or just played and enjoyed the game with friends. It means a lot to us! Ok, enough with the sappy bit (for now) and on to some birthday stuffs!

Birthday Celebrations

There will be a small birthday update with a new minigame only setting and fun in game decorations. This is just a small update for now, however we do have some plans for some very cool stuff in the future. But nothing is far enough along to give any hints or dates. So for now just stay tuned! In the meantime Explosive Odds will be a whopping 60% off from Sept. 24th-28th to celebrate 1 year! This is the biggest sale yet as the game will be just $1.99. This is likely the lowest the game will be for a long while so now is the time if you have been waiting. We are hosting some other birthday events as well. Fan Art Contest: From now until Oct. 5th submit any kind of fan art over in our Discord to get a chance at winning DLC or a game key for a friend. In case you don't have a Discord but still want to be involved feel free to post your art to the Explosive Odds Steam community! Community Play Day(s): I (Jared) will be hanging out in game, joining lobbies or hosting my own Friday the 25th from 5-7pm PST and Saturday the 26th from 10am-12pm PST. So come hang out with the community, host a lobby or join some others!

Ok now back to the sappy bit.

I started this project January 6th 2025. At first it started as a simple idea and a rough prototype inspired by games I liked to play with my friends. Buckshot Roulette and Exploding Kittens most prominently. At first the game started a lot differently as you picked from a grid of bombs. But I pretty quickly decided the game needed more randomness and added the slot machine like wheels. Pretty shortly after I started the rough prototype Danielle joined the project to work on art and the first version of the bots were born! After that we continued to evolve upon the project until the gameplay and visuals started to come together. We put out the first trailer on April 21st (and boy did the game look different back then). Explosive Odds was a part of steam next fest in June, then Yogscast Tiny Teams in August. This was our first paid game release on steam and it was a lot of work to put together (and a lot of learning). But I am super happy with how the game has done so far and seeing people play the game, leave reviews, participate in the discord and make fan art is so amazing. Not to mention the success of some of our YouTube Shorts... crazy! I know I plug it a lot but if you have any questions about the game or its development I'm always happy to chat about it over in our Discord. Hi all! Like Jared mentioned, I was added to the project a little after his initial prototype, but I sure am glad he did. Three years ago, with the development of generative AI and budget cuts, I was laid off as an Art Producer from my job and it turned my life around. Following that, I worked a job that overworked me and was ultimately defeated... BUT THEN... Jared reached out, and I took the leap. I had quit my job, we started this project not long after, and it was the best possible decision. Thank you to all who have played our game and made it possible for me to provide for my child and family. Not only that its amazing to see how many people like... maybe a little too much... the robot designs we developed and the customization of our bots. We hope to share more updates with you all and maybe one day we can branch out further. From Pig Bot Art Department (population 1), Thank you so much!
