Upcoming Update: New Islands, Eye Patches and Combat System
About the Upcoming Update
Ahoy Night Mariners,
I want to share some plans for the upcoming update. Some of the content mentioned here may change during development or be added to the game in a different way when the update is released. I will share more detailed information when the update goes live.
New Islands and Cave Variety
I have started working on new islands and caves. My goal is to make caves feel less repetitive, with difficulty, dangers and encounters changing depending on the mission.
One of the systems I am working on is cave auras that react to whether players make noise or stay quiet. You can think of this as a special rule or curse of the cave itself. In some caves, making too much noise may cause the lights to fade, the darkness to grow stronger and the environment to become more dangerous.
With this system, I want caves to feel different not only as maps, but also through their rules, atmosphere and gameplay.
New Eye Patches
I plan to add new eye patches to the game. Each eye patch will have both a positive and a negative effect.
For example, one eye patch may make the character move faster, but also cause them to use more stamina. This way, equipment choices will become gameplay decisions instead of only visual changes.
Combat System Update
I also plan to update the combat system. Players will be able to fight creatures more directly and hunt some of them.
Players will be rewarded for successfully defeating creatures. This means creature encounters will not only be something to run away from, but also a risky way to gain rewards.
New Items and Market Loop
I am planning to add new items to the game. One of them will be a harpoon, which will allow players to pull some items from a distance.
I also want to add more unique items like this. Most of these items will be connected to the market system and will give players more meaningful ways to use the resources they collect.
More Dangerous Ship Journeys
Ship journeys will become more dangerous. I am working on new creature variations that can appear inside the ship or during sea travel.
My goal is to make sea travel feel like more than just moving from one place to another. Players will need to stay alert on the ship and be ready for unexpected situations.
Model, Graphic and Control Updates
I will also make changes to models and graphics. I am working on cleaner visuals that fit the atmosphere of the game better.
I also plan to update the controls to make the game more comfortable to play.
Thank you for playing Nightmariners, sharing your feedback and supporting the development process.
