Nocto and The Ray of Light – Update 1.1.0

Nocto and The Ray of Light – Update 1.1.0
This update brings a major round of quality-of-life improvements, journal fixes, menu polish, control improvements, safer level transitions, and Windows build refinements.
Journal and Level Progress
- Rebuilt the journal’s level-total system for much more reliable progression tracking.
- Levels that have not yet been entered now correctly display progress such as 0 / 300 instead of hiding their totals.
- Fixed active-level journal progress sometimes displaying 0 collected or failing to persist.
- Fixed collected values occasionally being replaced by temporary zero values during level loading.
- Fixed the amount collected so far incorrectly becoming the level’s maximum total and falsely showing 100% completion.
- Level maximums now remain based on the full original level contents rather than the objects currently remaining.
- Journal progress now updates live while playing and while the game is paused.
- Progress can no longer move backwards because of a delayed scene scan or save-state restoration.
- Improved tracking for Relics, Essences, Containers, defeated enemies, and Snappies.
- Relics stored inside Containers are no longer counted twice.
- Large levels with separately loaded areas now include all of their content in the displayed total.
- Improved compatibility with older saves and added automatic recovery from stale journal records.
Menus and UI Polish
- Added smooth animated sparkle particles around the currently selected menu item.
- Added a subtle purple ripple and distortion effect when clicking with the mouse.
Controls and Settings
- Improved control-menu navigation and reliability when entering or leaving submenus.
- Borderless fullscreen is now the default display mode for new settings profiles.
- The default frame-rate target is now 60 FPS.
- Improved graphics-setting initialization and persistence between sessions.
Level Transitions and Nocto
- Fixed a serious issue where returning through a portal could place Nocto inside scenery or at the wrong position.
- Improved return-position validation and safe spawn placement after level transitions.
- Hardened portal and scene-return handling to reduce invalid or obstructed spawn locations.
Windows and Steam Improvements
- Improved startup configuration fallback behaviour for display, save, and progression settings.
- Applied additional stability, performance, and release-build cleanup throughout the game.
