Increpare's Pick: Tony Oeuf's Pro Skater - School II (Julien)

So, someone made a whole new kind of level for Oeuf. Absolutely unprecedented, and quite nice (inspired by an old skateboarding game, is my understanding). There are new kinds of platforming in it, not seen in previous Oeuf levels:
This alone is the biggest leap forward in Oeuf platforming technology since monkeylicka's Nutty Putty .
On the topic of individual platforming challenges, I also had the terrible embarrassment of spending a while trying to get one particular star, having had categorically ruled out the obvious way of getting it, because I "knew" it was impossible to get that way because of how I "knew" how the physics works. But no it turns out it was gettable in precisely the obvious way lol.
More than individual jumping challenges, the general feel of the environment is also good. I'm very used to Oeuf-City-sized areas, but these are a bit more spacious, and while there's a lot of platforming skill involved, there's also a lot of "looking around trying to find a way to get to star X" involved, that I find very pleasing.
There's a certain (slight) bareness to the level that - on one hand it maybe feels a bit plain, but on the other hand it has a relaxed sort of spaciousness that's quite nice to explore. And there's still a quite high density of stars scattered about. I wonder if this contributes to its Playstation-era mood? I think so. (I mean this whole paragraph in a positive way! It made a good and unique impression!)
Oeuf City provided a vindication of the 'star pickups' in terms of "how do you let people work on a map together without getting in each other's way", but this provides a vindication of them in a different way - a jolly exploration romp!
It's also fun to play multiplayer. I should also say, while getting all the stars might be a bit of a challenge, you can also have plenty of fun just rolling around looking for stars of whatever your level is - there's something for all the family...
