Oeuf v1.6: BANANAS HIGH-RES AUTUMN FREECAM EDITOR UPDATE (40% sale this week!)
v1.6 BIG EDITOR UPDATE
So, this was going to be a small update, but it turned into something quite large. Before we get into the specifics, I'd like to say we're going to have a cosy autumnal get together tomorrow evening on discord/stream to celebrate the new release:
LEVEL EDITOR UPDATES
General Editor Changes
Reworked high-resolution UI : we've gone native res with Oeuf, which allows us to up the readability of text in the editor a lot, and I took the opportunity to more generally snazz it up.
Here's what it looked like:
And here's what it looks like now:
Texture browser panel : see and pick from all textures at once with a single press of a key!
The File menu can now browse subfolders.
Autosaved files are now zipped to save 90% on disk space (and you can open them as if they were .txt files). Full rewritten documentation (updated tutorial video is a WIP and will come up in the next few days)
Level Editor Blocks
Seven new block types , each with their own personality. Wowee!
A new row of autumnal textures .
Level Editor Tools
New Tool: Hollow Tool (replaces the Room Tool): used to hollow out the insides of solid structures. Perfect for making underground caves. Much-improved Sculpt Tool : far simpler to use - you can now drag to sculpt, with a heavily optimized implementation, making it considerably more powerful and fun to use. It also now grouts as you go.
Rewritten Grout Tool — much faster implementation now, and based on a dragged-out box rather than smoothing spherical regions. Plane Tool now has more useful diagonal-ramp-piece dragging behaviour.
Slightly tweaked shortcuts (some Shifts + Ctrls changing places) to make what they do more consistent. Hopefully they won't get in the way of your muscle memory!
Entity Tools
New object added: BANANA
The NEST object has been "nerfed" outside of the built-in single-player level, so you can now place it in your own levels as an inert normie object, just as if it were a chair or a table! :)
OTHER FEATURES
Freecam Mode
Fly around and amuse yourself! Take nice photos! Accessible from the pause menu. Nice to have in multiplayer and for making dramatic trailers for your levels. :)
If you hover over the Upload to Steam Workshop button, you'll see an outline of the screenshot boundaries (Oeuf crops the screenshot uploaded to the workshop to a square).
PERFORMANCE
Heavy graphics optimizations. The game should perform much better on slower computers (As well as faster ones!). Community levels have been getting bigger and more demanding, and we scaled the Oeuf to meet their demands. :) Heavy loading-time optimizations. Levels should load in a fraction of the time they used to (More than 3x speed boost)! Many level-editing operations (e.g. extrusion and layer reordering) have been made much faster, making multiplayer editing even slicker than before.
SPEEDRUNNING
If you finish the game in less than an hour (in a single session), the finish screen now tells you how many checkpoints you hit.

MISC
7 new player colour schemes :)
New Multiplayer UI — designed to be easier to understand and more efficient to navigate than the old one.
Slightly more fanfare when you hit the End checkpoint of a custom level, or collect your final star.
And many, many other small tweaks + bug fixes to make the Oeuf more pleasant :)
