Plastic Conflict

Plastic Conflict 1.0

Douglas Works

Hello everyone! Thank you so much to everyone who has interacted with the game at all, whether you purchased it, wishlisted it, watched the trailers, or anything else. I really appreciate it.

I have released a demo on itch.io that can be played in browser or downloaded why I wait for Steam to approve my demo on here!

I ended up doing something of a shadow drop and released the game way earlier than I expected. I originally wanted to release it later this year, but I did not want to go through the grind of marketing and all the extra work that comes with it. It just felt like a lot compared to what I have been doing so far. I have been working on this for three years, and I really just wanted to get it out there and let people connect with it and enjoy it. I think it is in a state where that can definitely happen.

There is still going to be some growth and updates needed, but I truly appreciate anyone willing to take this journey with me. A lot of hard work has gone into this, and it is something that means a lot to me, especially as someone who grew up playing with Army Men and using imagination to create entire worlds. So again, I really appreciate even a few people finding enjoyment in my project. Thank you all for checking it out.

Since launch, I have put out a pretty massive update that fixes and tweaks a lot of the issues I found during playtesting. If you want to help me playtest, feel free to reach out via email and we can set something up. I could really use the help.

The game is also available on Itch.io. There is a downloadable demo, as well as a browser demo if you do not want to install anything. The full game is also available there and comes with a Steam key. The official Steam demo will be up soon, just waiting for Steam to finish reviewing it. That will be another option if you run into any issues with Itch.io.

So again, thank you everyone. I hope you are enjoying the game. I have made updates to the campaign, AI logic, and overall difficulty. I felt the campaign and skirmish modes were too difficult before. Multiplayer has also been added and should work better now, but it is still something I am actively learning and improving. It is difficult to test multiplayer properly, so if you run into issues, please let me know. Fixes will continue to come.

Sorry if the release came as a surprise, but the game is currently on sale for a good portion of April. If you want to try it out, I would really appreciate it. If you enjoy it, that means a lot to me. Thank you again.

Update highlights:

  • Campaign AI logic improvements
  • Movement updated to allow all directions with a hex based map instead of square grid
  • Fixed manpower resetting after battles
  • Fixed multiple campaign camera issues
  • Projectile fixes across all modes
  • Projectiles no longer pass through objects incorrectly
  • Lighting improvements across several maps
  • Lowered attack values for most units
  • Longer firefights and more drawn out battles
  • Wildlife now moves around the map instead of staying stationary
  • Improved prop spawning on campaign generated maps and other maps
  • Reduced overlapping and spawning issues
  • Updated main menu visuals with new screenshots
  • Fixed scenes not returning to main menu or exiting properly
  • Campaign change where exiting mid battle returns you to the campaign and counts as a loss

That is about it for now. Thanks again talk soon!
