Dev Diary #3
Hello everyone! A free demo for Roads of Rage is now available to download on itch.io and steam! We're hoping that giving players access to gameplay will provide a deeper insight into our game. After all, gameplay is the unique feature of gaming as an artform that no other art can provide, to become part of the artwork itself.
Demo only contains the tutorial and level 1, but should also include all other game features like local co-op, controller support, accessibility options, car customization, etc. Level 1 should provide a good summary of our gameplay loop; fight cars using cartial arts and special moves, progress the level, build your combo counter and use fun items, encounter the end of level boss, and finally finish with our Outrun inspired minigame.
If you encounter any bugs, please let us know by DMing us on X, @harnessgames. Development has been an interesting journey that has lasted about a year now. We believe video games are the greatest artform of our time, and with that comes the added con of being the hardest art medium to create. For startups like us to take on such a Hyperion task begs the question, why work so hard for something with no guarantee of success/no one cares about? That is what we believe to be the meaning of ambition. It is our source of motivation beyond fame or fortune leading us to do the impossible when the impossible doesn't want to be done. That is the power we harness from games and will continue to harness, if necessary, for years, if necessary, alone.
As always, wishlist Roads of Rage, share with others, and thanks for supporting indie devs like us!
