Devlog 8 - More Fixes, More Polish, More Chaos

Bomas Game Studio

Hi y'all. Indigo here with another devlog after being silent for some time. I haven't been super active in the Discord, and haven't pushed a ton of updates to the game in quite a while. I've still been working on the game in the silence, but things have certainly slowed down significantly. I have been handling some personal stuff, so I haven't had as much time to devote to the game over the past few weeks. But I'm here to say that I'm going to get back on it and start working on UOA regularly in the coming weeks and hope to have more patches and fixes in the near future.

Calendar Backend Updates

One thing that I have done in the past few weeks is completely rework the calendar system's backend. This has a couple of ramifications.

  1. Lots of bug fixes for calendar related issues such as:
  2. being unable to progress to the next day
  3. backend season being wrong, so some summer events weren't properly firing
  4. unable to progress to the next season under certain scenarios

You can now look at the calendar for all player counts when on the calendar screen, although you can only progress on the calendar of your current player count.

Some players will see that their scores have shifted by one day, and are lined up on days that they shouldn't be. This is caused by a very simple off-by-one error that I didn't catch when initially setting up the summer calendar, so the scores were saving in the wrong index of the array in the backend. I've since fixed the error, but you may now see your scores off by one. Just replay the days and your scores should update accordingly.

If you open your calendar and it shows that you dont have the next day unlocked, just play the most recent day you have and it should then unlock all of the days like normal going forward.

Fall Season

Even though I've slowed down on work, the art department has been ramped up for the fall season. We have begun work on it, and I hope to have it released by the end of fall so we can all enjoy the festivities. The new fall season will come with new special days, new events, new characters, new food and drink to serve, and of course a full, new calendar season to play! I don't have a lot more to share at the moment, but here's a few things that we're working on!

A cute but spooky witch that will certainly cause chaos with her magic on the plane.

What fall season would be complete without a pumpkin spice latte?

I will try to share more details as we get closer to release, but know that more content is coming soon!

Steamdeck Compatability

I'm VERY proud to announce that after quite a bit of back and forth, Uh Oh Airlines is officially Steamdeck Verified! You can now play portably, whether that's on a plane or not. Although, if you do play on a plane, please please please post a pic in the Discord. I'd love to see it. It took a lot to get here, but you can now play the game on the Steamdeck without fear of compatability issues or Steamdeck related bugs. If you're a Steamdeck user, I see you, and I appreciate you!

Steam Autumn Sale

I haven't decided just how much yet, but if you're on the fence about buying this game, please wait until the Steam Autumn Sale, as I will be participating and the game will receive a discount! My hope is that this will bring in more players to the game and the community.

Thank you all for your support. A huge, special thank you to everyone in the Discord that has helped to shape the game thus far. I truly appreciate each and every one of y'all.

Cheers, Indigo
