Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel - Patchnotes B5.15
Hello Seekers!
This patch roundup brings merchants, seven new pieces of headgear, and a collection of fixes and improvements shaped by your feedback.
Before the notes: a huge thank-you to the kind players who have been helping me track down bugs. The fixes below started with people taking the time to report what went wrong, explain how it happened, and help me investigate. As a solo developer, that means a lot. It is wonderful to see you helping make Under a Desert Sun better, one report at a time.
Merchants are open for business
Your gold has a new purpose, and that bag full of spare equipment can finally earn its keep. Visit a merchant to browse their wares, pick up an upgrade, or sell the gear you no longer need.
Buy and sell weapons and equipment. Browse the merchant's stock alongside your own inventory, with item details and prices available before you trade. Different merchants, different goods. Merchants can specialise in weapons, armour, or a mixture of equipment. Stock that grows with you. Merchants offer randomly generated gear suited to Player 1's level. On your next visit, stock refreshes after a level change or when the restock timer has elapsed. Merchant purses have limits. They can only buy what they can afford. Restocking replenishes their trading funds. Sold something by accident? Buy it back while the trading window is still open. The buyback list clears when you close it. Mouse and controller support. Inspect items or use quick trading actions with either control method. Room for your purchases. Buying an item requires a free inventory slot. Tidier trading screens. Both item grids now sit neatly inside their frames, with five columns and four rows and prices kept alongside their items.
Seven new pieces of headgear
There is more treasure to hunt for! This batch is all about headgear, bringing a mix of medieval, Greek, and ancient Egyptian-inspired looks to your equipment collection.
One Medieval Helmet. Three Corinthian helmets: Black, Bronze, and Rustic. Three Horus masks: Dusty, Negative, and Worn.
Medieval
Corinthian Black
Corinthian Bronze
Corinthian Rustic
Horus Dusty
Horus Negative
Horus Worn
The new pieces have been added to eligible non-Nazi enemy loot pools. They drop alongside existing equipment, using the usual level and rarity rolls, so keep an eye on what your enemies leave behind!
And yes, I am aware that the Adventurer's hair sticks out above her headgear. It's just... such majestic hair that I haven't had the heart to hide it while she wears a helmet yet.
Clearer inventory and equipment details
Improved text layout and sizing so inventory and equipped-item stats fit their panels more reliably. Made item-name and rarity colours consistent across inventory, equipped gear, and merchant details. Added matching rarity colours and shimmer to detail-panel frames, making it easier to recognise the quality of the selected item. Kept parchment backgrounds neutral so the stats remain easy to read. Fixed merchant rarity labels appearing white instead of their intended colour. Fixed old item details, rarity frames, and selection messages lingering after closing and reopening the inventory. Each visit now starts with a clean slate.
Bug fixes and polish
Controls, cursor and tooltips
Fixed inconsistent Force Keyboard behaviour between menus and gameplay, including physical mouse control when a gamepad is still connected. Improved switching back to controller use when Force Keyboard is turned off, and corrected input handling in the intro scenes. Fixed the virtual cursor appearing behind dropdown menus. Fixed general tooltips flickering when they overlap buttons near screen corners. Fixed tooltips lingering after the pointer leaves their element.
Cinematics, books and credits
Fixed Escape stopping the prologue camera while narration and other scene activity continued. The cinematic now plays through without input-driven camera skipping; the Continue button remains the way to leave early. Corrected the credits book's viewing alignment and brought the character-book scenes into line with the same smooth camera approach. Fixed the credits ending taking you to the main map. Both the ending and the early-exit button now return to the Start Screen.
Thank you for helping shape the game
Every useful report gives me something concrete to work with. Thank you for your patience, your explanations, and for taking the time to help even when a bug gets in the way of your adventure.
If you spot something else, please keep sharing it in the Steam discussions . A short description of what happened and what you were doing just beforehand is a great starting point.
