Under A New Sun

Map, Co-op & QoL Improvements (v0.11.1)

New Horizon Games

Survivors,

Thank you for the amazing feedback on the Explorer's Update! This update (v0.11.1) focuses on refining some of the new features and polishing the overall gameplay experience. Alongside the requested zoom function for the map and some new snapping points for base building, the main focus of this patch is significantly better co-op stability and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

Below is the full list of changes included in this update.

Update to v0.11.1:

New Features & Improvements

  • The map can now be zoomed in and out
  • Adjusted the size of map markers to better accommodate the new zoomable map
  • Added center snapping points on floors for wall placement
  • The shipyard can now be snapped directly to piers
  • The coal oven now operates faster than a regular fire
  • The coal oven now provides a higher yield when fully loaded
  • Campfires now last longer than crude fires
  • The air tank refill station now displays a transparent ghost mesh placeholder before attaching air tanks to it
  • Decreased the power consumption of the air tank refill station (from 70 to 50 per second)

Co-op Improvements

  • Implemented a in-session fallback system (saving the inventory) for clients in case of a game crash or lost connection (not permanently saved, rejoin the host and save after a crash!)
  • Client players can now initiate their own character save on the host's server
  • Added distinct notifications to show whether the entire game was saved by the host, or if just the character progress was saved by the client
  • Added fallback Steam IDs for more reliable saving and loading of co-op players
  • Removed the "Return to menu" button from the death screen while in co-op mode
  • Planet movement is now being replicated
  • The respawn point now updates upon every save, rather than only when sleeping (on shelters & beds)
  • Fixed an issue where co-op players could not catch their breath after surfacing if they jumped or fell off a boat
  • Fixed a bug where co-op players could dig clay indefinitely
  • Fixed an issue where players could not rejoin if the host closed and restarted the co-op session
  • Fixed a bug where client players would not spawn correctly on the ship after the game was saved and reloaded
  • Fixed an issue where the scanner could sometimes not be activated by clients

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed missing sound effects when building structures on a ship
  • Fixed an issue where double air tanks could not be snapped to the refill station via physics interaction (caused by the recent update)
  • Air tanks now reattach correctly to the refill station after reloading a save game
  • Ores already inside the smelter will now continue smelting correctly after reloading the game, without needing to be dragged out and put back in
  • The loom now correctly saves and reloads its progress level (tracking how many ropes have already been added)
  • The game now properly checks for and unlocks journal entries when reading notes
  • The game will now retroactively check and unlock the security clearance journal entries for players who already obtained them
  • Fixed rotating wheels of air tank refill stations placed on ships no longer drift away after some time
  • Fixed a bug where dead rays would fall down to the seafloor
  • Fixed the transition from the death screen to the main menu in single-player mode
