Version 1.57.1: Patch Notes

Pastaspace Interactive

Hello starchasers! As promised I'm back with another patch to address gamebreakingly softlockingly pertinent issues, plus a variety of other small goodies. Cat pics? What? What do you- Oh, right. Okay, here's a few.

Anyway the game's going through a massive deep dive of bugfixing and polish and that's... involved. I've still got some 43 pages of bugfixes and notes on stuff, part of which is incorporated into the game (namely in the starting regions). It also includes some extra bits, like a new depth of field option for dialogue camera and lots of readability passes.

Anyway, changelog time!

Changelog is as follows:

NEW FEATURES

  • The pause button now skips launch/landing cutscenes.
  • If you can’t hail a ship the target interaction menu will now reflect that by greying out the option.
  • Selling a ship to a shipdealer now also sells any equipment aboard that ship.
  • You can now select nav items on the map via their icons.
  • Mimics around battleship wrecks now drop items on death, with a slightly higher chance for rare items than normal lootboxes found around battleship wrecks.
  • Vanity items (such as decals, furniture, dyes, etc) in random cargo are now weighted: if you don’t have a vanity item there’s now a 50% to pick from the vanity item pool.
  • Quest logs now display the current objective of quests that aren’t completed.

CHANGES AND REBALANCES

  • Touched up a bunch of pre-existing areas for multiplayer’s main campaign.
  • Stations that don’t have their own dedicated rooms for ship services (such as trading, equipment, etc), will now warp you close to the NPC that offers those services, instead of just resetting you in the launch bay.
  • Pyrona is more expressive in her dialogue.
  • Old Ferly is now properly named and it’s better communicated that killing her unlocks a trophy for you.
  • Some more benign storm hazards have had their music changed to reflect the fact that they aren’t hostile.
  • The Yeahtier now fights back against its inevitable fate in the Battle That Always Will Be.
  • The storage depot in Battle That Always Will Be has a more involved explosion and actively shows damage.
  • Gythrian now has a properish uniform for his purposes.
  • Rewrote several old campaign tutorials to match the cadence and length of other tutorials. Ambient fishing ships now fish far deeper. Far, far deeper.
  • Pausing the game now pauses tunnel and laneline audio (which is now affected by volume settings).
  • Customized ships in the shipdealer menu are shown with their customization stuff.
  • The Old Red Fighter in campaign mission 2 is even more obvious now. You see? You see what you’re making me do?
  • Added more sounds and music cues when you complete a campaign mission.
  • Unified ship naming schemes across title and in-game loading systems.
  • Defensive drones that are assisting NPCs (rather than attacking players) now have slightly updated effects.
  • Adjusted the colors of Variom’s nebula.
  • Cargo boxes you can’t loot will despawn eventually now, to prevent memory leaks.
  • Redid some sounds, balancing, and aspects of the Great Dish to bring it up to my modern standards.
  • The storm klaxon for your hazard UI will now only go off when a new storm is encountered.
  • Adjusted some aspects of Hard Business to flow better.
  • Expanded sun bounding boxes on the navmap.
  • Lanelines on the navmap now have a new animated material.
  • Rebalanced the fight with Trasklar slightly, along with fixing several issues related to the fight.
  • Moved Trasklar’s ship back slightly, to give you more time to process all the things you’ve encountered.
  • Added sound cues to ship transfer stuff.
  • Pickup messages now have more coloration to make them stand out better.
  • Added some more sound cues to UIs opening.
  • Trasklar’s blade’s pieces now have greatly increased value, so-as to grant some exp to you upon the completion of their quests.
  • Resized the dialogue UI slightly to better increase readability.
  • Added a depth of field option to the dialogue UI to better increase readability.
  • Added proper camera angles to Nagris Depot’s items and prevented early interactions with some story elements.
  • Increased the frequency of idle space chatter.
  • Slightly increased subtitle readability.
