Preparing for the Hoard: Physical Carrying & Combat Tweaks

Blackrose Arts

Skål, Vikings!

The special mechanic we mentioned in our last update is taking shape. Today's patch introduces the first iteration of our physical carrying system. It’s a core feature for our upcoming raid activities - after all, what good is a raid if you can’t haul the heavy loot back to your ship?

Right now, this update lets you test the physics of carrying heavy objects solo (this works in multiplayer too). However, we are aiming to roll out the second iteration within the next two weeks to introduce the true core of this system: co-op carrying. You'll get to experience the fun of grabbing a heavy chest with a teammate, balancing the weight together, and syncing your steps so you don't drop the hoard.

Here is what today's patch brings:

Preparing for the Great Hoard

  • You can now pick up and carry heavy physical objects. For this test phase in the survival area, we've added a physical chest and a large golden bowl. This is a first iteration, so expect some wobbliness which we will be polishing out over time.
  • Carrying heavy loot requires care. Turning around too fast or physically squeezing the item (like getting it stuck in a doorway) will force it to drop out of your hands.
  • Implemented a highly optimized network replication system for physical items. The game can now smoothly synchronize multiple physics-based objects simultaneously in multiplayer without bottlenecking the network performance.
  • You can bring the heavy loot to your Hearth to immortalize your deeds before Odin and earn Glory.

Combat, Physics & Tweaks

  • Reduced the overall damage dealt by Boars and Bears.
  • Decreased the intensity and chance of being knocked into a ragdoll state by Boar and Bear attacks.
  • Fixed a critical bug causing extreme ragdoll impulses for the host and in single-player mode.
  • Improved ragdoll physics for falling, headbutting, and clotheslining impacts to make them look and feel more natural.
  • Increased nighttime brightness once again, continuing our ongoing adjustments for better visibility.

Thank you for your incredible support. Sharpen your blades, and we'll see you in the next update!
