Loot, Mods & Doom Update!
We've been working on the whole dungeon run: what you collect, how your robot gets there, and how it feels when time starts running out. This update brings a more generous economy, a full mod balance pass, and plenty of improvements to movement and atmosphere.
Loot & Upgrades
- Regular gold is worth a little more, helping you reach upgrades sooner while keeping carrying weight meaningful.
- Weapon upgrades now cost 25 / 35 / 45 G based on weapon level. Skipping a shop no longer makes the same upgrade more expensive next round.
- The shop shows how purchases affect your current build, and gold pickups have clearer coin trails, sounds, and value feedback.
Mods
- Reworked mod effects and stacking, with a limit of three copies per mod across active and reserve inventory. Only active copies grant effects.
- Extra copies now follow defined ranks. For example, Wind Boots grant a total of +15 / 25 / 30% movement speed with one / two / three active copies.
- Healing, combat, escape, and gold mods have clearer roles and limits. Phoenix Feather revives once per round; extra copies improve the health you return with.
- Mod icons now match the pixel art, with distinct in-game effects for shields, lightning, fire, frost, healing, and other abilities.
Navigation & Bots
- LOOT prioritizes the nearest reachable gold along a usable route, including gold on the floor and revealed chests that are still unopened.
- Robots move on when nearby loot runs out. Navigation around corners, obstacles, and crowded corridors has also been improved.
- Start-room pillars now block movement correctly.
- Bots can decide to chase a rival to recover stolen gold, depending on the situation.
Dungeon Atmosphere & Wall of Doom
- Reworked exploration fog uncovers the dungeon and its background together, with drifting edges and short reveal animations. Explored areas stay visible.
- The layered dungeon backdrop has more depth, while the playable floor and characters stay crisp.
- The Wall of Doom has a fierier edge, glowing veins, and rolling fumes. It fills each view and stays visible above the fog.
- Smoke, embers, and a warm vignette build as time runs low, warning you even before the wall enters view.
Movement & Split Screen
- Reduced the visible jitter in player and camera movement while preserving the game's sharp pixel look.
- Refined split and merge transitions, camera shake, and four-player layouts for a steadier view as players spread out and regroup.
Auction, Start Zone & Results
- The auction has richer lighting and clearer bidding and countdown feedback.
- Banners, torches, floor markings, and a revised bank emblem make the start zone easier to recognize. Its decoration now stays firmly anchored to the dungeon.
- Round results now show gold stolen and gold lost to theft separately, with corrected accounting.
Let us know how the new upgrade pacing and mod combinations feel in your next run!
