6. Ruins of Dawn
A loot-driven action role-playing game (ARPG) crafted by a solo loot…
20 games, the closest and most played first.
Path of Exile 2 fans want a dark-fantasy action RPG with loot to chase and, in this case, co-op for up to six players. The five picks stay in the isometric, loot-heavy corner: Grim Dawn and Last Epoch offer deep character building, the two Diablo entries lean on dungeon crawling, and Dragonkin: The Banished is a monster-hunting newcomer.
Best for players who love tinkering with class combinations in a grim fantasy world.
Character building is the draw: a dual-class system lets you combine any of six classes, with over 25 skills and modifiers per class. It also promises hundreds of items, crafting and quests where choices have consequences. The world is apocalyptic fantasy with humanity close to extinction, a similarly dark mood to Wraeclast.
Time travel gives this action RPG its hook: you move through Eterra's past, facing dark empires and wrathful gods in an effort to save time from the Void. It lists 15 mastery classes and deep character customization, and says it is made for veterans and newcomers alike, so it is open to players new to the genre.
Best for dungeon-delvers who want a campaign to share and bosses to farm afterward.
The campaign can be played solo or with friends, then carries on into an end game built around battling bosses for powerful loot. Nightmarish dungeons and a dark world keep the mood close to Path of Exile 2, while the abilities to master give you plenty to tinker with along the way.
Best for loot hunters who want a classic dungeon crawler with a modern coat of paint.
This is a remaster of an older action RPG, bundling Diablo II with its Lord of Destruction expansion and the newer Reign of the Warlock DLC. Sanctuary is the setting, kept faithful to the original while gaining modern 3D graphics and remastered audio. Choose it for classic dungeon-crawling loot hunting with a dark look.
Best for hack-and-slash fans who want a straightforward dragon-slaying mission.
Hunting dragon creatures, and eventually the Dragon Lords, is the mission, played as one of the legendary hero classes in a world corrupted by dragon blood. It sits in the same isometric, loot-driven hack-and-slash corner as Path of Exile 2, with a narrower, monster-hunting premise.
