Vampire Survivors fans enjoy a short, escalating fight where you survive waves and build a stronger character between runs. These picks stay in bullet-hell and action-roguelike territory: Nuclear Throne, Rush Rover and Windowkill are quick shooters, while Monsters and Monocles and Streets of Rogue add teamwork and freedom.
A tougher, more hands-on shooter. You fight through a post-apocalyptic wasteland of mutants and monsters, collecting radiation to mutate new limbs and abilities. It is difficult and pixel-art, and it suits players who like a steep climb, since its own copy jokes about needing to be good at it.
This one adds a team. A frantic Victorian steampunk twin-stick shooter, it has you and quirky paranormal investigators using heavy weaponry to blast back a great evil unleashed by a naive collector. It is loud and fast, and the quirky cast keeps the horde-blasting from getting too serious.
Closer to traditional shoot'em up play than other shooters of its kind, in 2D and from above. Maps are randomly generated, and you face many enemies and boss battles to a dynamic chiptune soundtrack. Pixel art, bullet hell and adventure sit together, so a run has more to see than endless waves.
An odd one, where your own desktop is the arena. It is a twin-stick shooter in which the game window keeps closing in and windows shift around your screen. You buy upgrades and perks between rounds and face roguelike permadeath, with simple controls and hordes of enemies keeping you on the move.
A roguelite with room to improvise. Instead of a dungeon, it sets you in a functioning, procedurally generated city, and it rewards player choice and experimenting, with pixel graphics and multiplayer. It takes inspiration from fast-paced top-down roguelites like Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne, so the speed is there even though the rules are looser.
