Final multiplayer improvements and more
Hey Astro Colonists!
Over the past few days, I’ve been extensively testing the new dedicated servers, which were recently upgraded. I discovered quite a few glitches during testing, so I’ve been working to further improve the game.
Check the list below to see what has been improved:
New dedicated server search
Because the number of searches is limited by Steam and it triggers a new search every 60 seconds, I decided to change it a little. Each refresh gives all results, and then the filter is applied locally.
The list is also automatically refreshed for you.
In game syncing button is back
After long testing, finally I am satisfied with it. Thanks to sending additional coordinates of all bots, it is now 100% reliable without the need to wait for missing server data.
Improved docking system
The docking system should reliably dock and sync. In addition, players will see missing states like "docking" and can finally use stop docking.
More data sync between client & server
Not every single game state was presented to the player, so I try to improve it here. For example, oxygen barrier value is now replicated, so the player knows exactly how much oxygen is left.
Resource scan icons are back
I noticed that scanning result wasn't consistent on the client, especially right after joining to the game where planets were already created. Right now all markers should appear correctly, like in the single-player game.
Bot is always there
Tutorial bot is no longer getting confused or lost.
Progression markers are no longer reappearing
Before each time player joined, they had previously loaded markers from the first player. Right now the state stays independent, so you will never have diamond markers reappearing.
New QOL like take items
Sometimes when a storage is full, there is no way to split resources. Luckily, there is a new "take" option that will transfer amount to your inventory!
Additional changes in the recent hotfix
- Preventing from advanced service bots being upgraded again
- Transport bots are now checking if container is full when delivering +1 resource
- Shields are now correctly tracking meteors
There are also plenty of smaller improvements that are making game more stable and faster. OK, now I can finally focus on the next content update :) Soon I will publish a roadmap to let you guys know what will come at the end of the year and next year.
Thanks guys so much for support! Tefel (Terad Games)
