Ball Maze v0.6.5 — Day-One Update

新鲜李四 (FreshLi4 Studio)

Thank you for playing Ball Maze on launch day, and for sending us your suggestions and bug reports!

This update focuses on issues with levels, controls, and progress tracking, alongside improvements to camera visibility and localized text. Here’s what’s changed:

New Content

In controller mode, the home screen now shows a Maze Editor shortcut: press the left stick to select the entrance, then confirm to enter.

Adjustments

Levels & Mechanisms

Adjusted the gate level in the Mine. It should now be a little easier to complete.

Ferris wheels throughout the levels now use the version with openings.

Balls

Adjusted the Golf Ball’s ability direction in the Black Hole world. It now launches vertically relative to the black hole’s gravity.

Adjusted the Basketball’s bounce direction in the Black Hole world. It now jumps vertically relative to the black hole’s gravity.

Controller & Interface

With a controller , the default vertical camera direction on the right stick now matches mouse controls. You can still invert it in Settings.

Gyro mode can now only be selected when motion input is detected from the current controller , helping prevent players from choosing a mode they cannot use.

Made button icon sizes and spacing more consistent in control hints, and removed empty gyro hints to reduce unnecessary gaps.

Camera & Visuals

Adjusted the transparency of objects blocking the camera so tracks keep a clearer outline. Start, goal, and checkpoint halos now fade and reappear with their tracks.

Improved visibility when water, boats, or fish block the camera in ocean levels, and reduced underwater refraction that could make tracks harder to judge.

Localization

Added missing translations for level challenges, made common terms more consistent, and shortened overly long translations.

Improved wrapping and spacing in level names, descriptions, and control hints to reduce overflowing text and excessive gaps.

Polished the Japanese world and level descriptions for more natural wording.

Fixes

Levels & Mechanisms

Fixed several lower minecarts in 2-8 that would not move or connect to the next track.

Fixed an issue that prevented the maze from rotating in 2-10.

Fixed an issue in 4-2 where wind could push the ball out of the starting point and start the timer before the player was ready.

Fixed checkpoint orientation in 1-8 and later affected levels, including 4-8 and 4-9, so the maze returns to the correct orientation when respawning.

Fixed an issue where the ball could pass through the base of a geyser.

Fixed the tap’s stream effect disappearing after selecting “Try Again.”

Fixed an invisible obstruction that could block the ball before molten iron had fallen.

Corrected checkpoint challenges in some levels to match the checkpoints actually present.

Fixed a missing floor section beneath the City goal in the Maze Editor.

Completion Records & Leaderboards

Fixed missing completion records and leaderboard submissions after finishing the tenth level of each world.

Fixed the release version’s leaderboards using test scores.

Mouse & Saves

Fixed an issue on Mac where starting in fullscreen could trap the mouse at the top of the screen until you switched away from the game and back.

Fixed the mouse cursor disappearing after leaving Settings without saving.

Fixed progress being shared between different Steam accounts on the same computer. Each account now saves its progress separately.

Corrected an issue affecting Steam Cloud saves on Mac.

If you have an existing save, please launch the game with the Steam account you originally played on first after updating.

Still Under Investigation

We’re continuing to investigate crashes reported by some Mac players during gameplay. If you encounter one, please let us know which level you were playing and what you were doing through the Steam Community.

Thank you for your patience and support! Every report helps us make Ball Maze better.
