Bugfixes and Resolution scale. Patch v1.002
Hey there here is a little patch (v1.002) with the following fixes and additions:
- fixed score display bug, sometimes displaying xxx33,333
- fixed a bug where the wrong score was shown for double and triple kills.
- fixed damage fall off after the crossbow bolt hits a target
- added a slider for screen resolution scaling
Explanation: The score screen sometimes showed decimals. Most of the time xxx,333. This was a result of another bug, that was in the game that I thought I had removed. It has to do with dmg fall off. The game had dmg fall off, so if you hit player 1 and player 2 was standing behind player 1, player 2 only got half the dmg and so on. Depending on the dmg you dealt your points where set. This was also the reason why you could achieve assist kills.
I removed that entirely, so now if one or even two players stand behind the player you hit, you will hit and kill all of them. This can lead to some very satisfying multi kills. There was also a problem with the games resolution scaling or resolution scale quality. This is a bit of a difficult topic because of how unreal works and uses these two parameters. I’ll try to explain that in the simplest way I can. Basically Unreal has two parameters when it comes to game resolution, there is game resolution scaling and game resolution quality. They both are dependent on one another, with resolution scaling being the dominant value that influences resolution quality. The game was set natively to not have resolution scaling, this would in turn set the resolution quality to 0 and would make the game look more blurred or basically worse then it should. I now implemented a slider for resolution scaling, this slider will be set to 0 if you start the game, meaning everything will be set how it was already. But you now can push that slider to 100% to get a very nice sharp and clear picture. Note this will impact performance, and can lead to worse fps if you have older hardware. One unintuitive thing here is that the resolution slider at 0% will most of the time be the best pick for low end systems. Because 0% will disable scaling and set quality to 0. Because scaling only begins to work at a specific threshold depending on your set resolution, setting your resolution scaling to 0% is most of the time the best in visual quality up until about 50% of scaling. So in short 0% has better visuals then everything under ~ 50% of scaling. Please keep that in mind. If there are any problems coming up let me know. Have a great start of the week everyone.
