Boomsday

v0.80 - Special Thanks

Floor Wardens

New:

  • The main menu now shows a Special Thanks panel for our top alpha testers. Special thanks to you guys and the reports you make of things that are broken as well as some damn good suggestions. Thank you guys so much for helping with the alpha game development process and your kind words!
  • Meet Twiggy! Skidd has been replaced by a hooded archer with a permanent bow and room for other weapons. Tap or draw: tap for a quick, weaker short-range shot, or hold and release for a powerful arrow that travels farther. Arrows follow a gravity-driven arc, with charge shown on the HUD. Bow hits apply bleeding and slow, and benefit from weapon perks. Grapple arrows replace grenades: fire at distant floors or walls and pull toward a safe landing once the arrow connects. Cross gaps and reach higher platforms.
  • Added dedicated bow idle, draw and release animations, corrected the backwards bow, and fixed Twiggy’s awkward backward bending in Cinematic mode.
  • Elite enemies have arrived. Any regular monster can now spawn as an elite with their own powers: armored, swift, brutal, giant, regenerating, enraged, shielded, poison touch, auras that speed up or heal the pack, mortars, ground slams, exploding deaths, burning pools and poison trails left on the floor. Your typical monster stuff for now, This will be heavily expanded upon later and will be specific to each enemy. Right now its enabled on all enemies for testing purposes. Elites glow with a pulsing runic ring at their feet, wear a gold health bar, cannot be slowed, stunned, or knocked around.
  • Latest Update card that pulls our newest Steam news post automatically.
  • Elites spontaneous spawn control bar added in case elites aren't your jam.
  • Added Off, PCSS Off, and Ultra shadow options directly below Anti-Aliasing in Graphics settings. Choose sharper shadows for performance or softer Ultra shadows with fewer speckles , This settings has minor impact on performance. Shadows are heavily optimized now.

Changed:

  • Cinematic camera now fades your character when walls push the view too close, then smoothly pulls back out when there’s room.
  • Every arena in every mode now wears real dirt: floors, walls, stairs, rails, pillars, grates and the outer walls carry a layer of grime that follows the world, so nothing looks freshly scrubbed anymore.
  • The tutorial now has a cellar entrance in the top wall, the same stairway you arrive through in the dungeon, with torches flanking it. Tutorial torches now actually burn, with flame, glow and drifting embers like the torches in the other modes.
  • Enemy health bars also got the new pill look that was used on Psychs turret and now sit properly above tall monsters' heads.

Fixed:

  • Fixed strafing animations twisting your gun away from where you’re shooting.
  • Leaderboard: your level now records correctly instead of showing 1, runs you quit out of still count toward your best, and the co-op board groups each squad under its leader so you can expand a team to see everyone who was in it. (non retroactive)
  • Fixed the Cinematic camera Preview in Settings showing nothing.
  • Fixed enemies getting stuck on the doorways in RPG mode.
  • Fixed RPG flashlights lighting up your own head and casting oversized shadows across the floor when looking down in Cinematic mode.
  • Dungeon Sweep: loot no longer ends up in stairwells.
  • Users with extra wide monitors now see wall decorations with candles illuminate candles in the proper area.
