You helped Calmaria grow. Come back for a bigger adventure!
Hey everyone,
Over 1,800 of you added Calmaria to your wishlists. Thank you!
As a solo developer, it means a lot that you chose to spend your time on these islands. Whether you built a settlement, braved a dungeon, sent an idea or told me exactly what wasn't working, you've helped shape what Calmaria is becoming.
Now there's more waiting for you.
Look what you got up to
Together, you downloaded the demo 2,500+ times, spent over 1,400 hours on the islands and gathered more than 700,000 resources.
350+ of you ventured into dungeons, and almost 300 completed the original demo by sailing away from the starting island. Along the way, 250 players shared feedback and ideas.
That's a lot of adventures, and a lot of help making the next ones better.
A bigger demo, as a thank-you
For one week, everyone can play the expanded demo all the way up to level 18. Depending on how you play, that's roughly 3 to 6 hours of adventure.
The demo has been reset for everyone, so even if you already finished it, you can start again and discover what's changed.
Take your time building, head out to sea or see how far you can get underground. This expanded version is only available for a week, and it's my way of thanking you for all the feedback, patience and encouragement.
Your feedback, put to work
Recovering your belongings is easier. Pick up your dropped items with E, find your loot bag on the map for 10 minutes, and confirm before throwing away weapons or tools. Important maps and seals are protected from being lost.
Farming and water supplies are more reliable. Automatic replanting works again, you can mark planting areas for settlers, and full barrels no longer leave the well pump stuck.
Your settlement fights back. Settlers respond to ranged attackers, and enemies in a wave that spot you fight you instead of ignoring you and attacking buildings.
I've also reduced stuttering in the world map and talent tree, improved co-op performance, and made 50+ other fixes to controls, prompts, notifications and everyday annoyances.
More islands to explore, more reasons to stay
Beautiful beaches and a world full of secrets
There are beautiful, reworked beaches, thicker grass swaying in the breeze, more little details underfoot, and new lighting for the sky, sun and moon. I hope you'll find a moment between adventures to enjoy the view.
Larger starting islands, small resource islands and richer distant islands give you more places to explore. You'll also find discoveries that connect across the archipelago, locked dungeons and hidden treasures. There's more to these islands than you might notice on your first visit.
A whole new dungeon adventure
The expanded dungeon system brings 6 new dungeon types, 10 new puzzles and mechanisms, and 30 monsters, including bosses.
There are also dozens of new pieces of equipment, alongside balance changes and improvements to monster behavior and attack waves.
And you don't have to face everything alone: hire a settler to travel and fight alongside you, including in dungeons. Their help costs gold per minute.
Just remember: they're on the clock.
New quests and a livelier settlement
A completely rebuilt and expanded quest system introduces side quests. Quest-giving characters have been fleshed out too, alongside improvements to your settlers.
Building is more flexible. Move placed buildings, lay fences in one continuous line, and make use of storage connections and settler professions as your settlement grows.
Your character has a new look and smoother animations for moving, working and fighting. You can also create and choose your character in a new scene around a bench in a meadow, including in co-op.
See you back on the islands
Thank you for giving Calmaria a chance, and for helping me see where it could be better.
Your next adventure is waiting: a fresh start, a level 18 demo, and one week to explore it.
I'd love to hear what you think. Share your feedback in the game or on Discord, and add Calmaria to your wishlist if you'd like to follow the journey.
See you on the islands!
