Linux & Steam Deck now uses Proton

Subworld

Hey Everyone!

If you're on Linux or Steam Deck, you are probably aware that we haven't been able to maintain the native build for a long time, and the state of it has been in limbo. After working on it for the past week, we have landed on switching to Proton only - which means there will be no native Linux build anymore.

This should not change anything , since we don't offer a Linux build outside of Steam anyway, but we though we'd let you in on what's going on anyway.

You don't have to do anything on your end , and your saved data should carry over just fine, and you'll now be able to play the most recent updates & DLC - and the pesky inventory button bug is gone for good. We've verified that the game works well with Proton Stable, which Steam should select by default for you!

This change also makes it so much easier for us to keep everyone up-to-date, as we no longer have to manage multiple builds & physical machines.

Anyway, just wanted to keep all Steam Deck and Linux users updated. Let us know if you encounter any issues playing via Proton, please!

We're now moving forwards with our next update, which will focus a lot on Community Feedback, QoL, and new things... if you have any suggestions or ideas for the game, we're always interested in hearing you out! Post in the Suggestions Box or swing by Discord to share your thoughts!

Thanks everyone!
