v1.8.9 Released: Personality, Watch Together, New Free Mode + More

Hi everyone, v1.8.9 has been released:

Personality and Memory

Improved personality-card consistency across chat and observations, making custom personalities much more apparent during conversations.

Added background conversation recaps to further improve continuity when returning to CielChan after a previous session.

Free Mode

Added Free Mode to the Watch Together panel, allowing Ciel to automatically initiate more open-ended conversations using her personality and available context. Free Mode follows the existing Watch Together flow, with a larger focus on spontaneous conversation and observations.

Watch Together Improvements

Refined dialogue responses across Watch Together and Game mode. Watch Together Game should now feel more conversational while still retaining more of a focus on gameplay compared to standard Watch Together.

Improved prompt handling to preserve personality and conversational guidance alongside visual context.

Observation Improvements

Added optional timing modifiers for quicker, steadier, or gradually less frequent observations. You can find the new Observation modifiers within the Settings / Screen & Awareness menu.

Fixed an issue where saved Custom observation preset text could be overwritten during personality-card refreshes.

Improved recognition of manual “What’s on my screen?” requests in Turkish.

UI Improvements

Model hover fading now works while the chatbox is open, instead of requiring it to be closed.

Update will be live on the Compact Branches and other Web Platforms shortly.
