Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef

ACHIEVEMENTS COME TO DEVIL REEF!

The Fine Arc

Hey survivors! Achievements arise in Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef , with 21 new achievements to satisfy even the most stygian of abyssal bean counters. Every death, every descent into madness and every page of forbidden lore leaves its mark. On top of that, the Eldritch relics finally remember what they're for, Knockback moves into the realm of the mind, and the whole dive runs smoother than ever.

Steam Achievements Have Surfaced

Whether you're a boss hunter, a sanity gambler or a scholar of the drowned, there's something here with your name on it. Some will come to you on your very first dive. Others will take everything you've got. Here's what's waiting in the deep.

Blood, Salt and Bosses

For the ones who keep dying, keep coming back, and eventually stop the things that killed them.

  • Baptized in Salt
  • Back to the Beach
  • Hydra's Reckoning
  • For the 10th time, Stay down!
  • A Riptide Force

Madness and the Curse Dice

Your sanity was never really yours to keep. These are for the ones who let it slip, roll the bones and walk out the other side. Or never let the dice touch them at all.

  • Feeling Unsettled
  • Broken Mind, Unbroken Will
  • Kiss of Madness
  • The Dice Spoke, You Listened
  • Stable Mind
  • Pandemonium

Forbidden Knowledge

The truth about Devil Reef is out there, one whispered page at a time. Fill your codex, uncover the incantations, and follow the trail from the tainted shore all the way to what Obed brought back.

  • First Whispers
  • Word Beyond Reckoning
  • Dear Diary
  • The Tainted Shore
  • Zadok's Testimony
  • Doctrines of the Order
  • What Obed Brought Back
  • Amidst Wonder and Glory

Spoils of the Reef

For the collectors and the big spenders.

  • Tide of Silver
  • Hoarder of Dagonite

Achievements that build up over several runs show their progress right in Steam, so you can always see how close you are. Weapons you've already unlocked count straight away, so veterans get a head start on Tide of Silver .

How many can you claim before the reef claims you?

The Relics Awaken

A batch of Eldritch items had power in name only. Their descriptions promised one thing and the reef quietly delivered less. Not anymore. These relics now do exactly what their descriptions say:

  • Anglerfish Eye
  • Blood Tally
  • Bottled Last Breath
  • Feeding-Frenzy Tooth
  • Ferryman's Key
  • Frostbrine Clasp
  • Leviathan's Ram
  • Martyr's Plate
  • Mind-Ward Pendant
  • Quarry Seal
  • Resonant Idol
  • Umbral Hook
  • Whaler's Harpoon

If you've passed one of these over before, give it another look. Mermaid's Charm has also been strengthened, so dodging costs even less stamina.

The Weight of a Thought

The entire Knockback incantation set, from Dagon's Shove all the way up to Crushing Wave , now belongs to the Psychic school. Your enemies are no longer pushed back by brute force but by something far less natural. Crushing Wave's description now links straight to the Dazed effect, and knocked-back enemies always recover properly instead of getting stuck mid-slide.

Smoother Waters

Many visual effects are now pooled and reused instead of being created and destroyed over and over, so big fights hold steady. We also fixed a text rendering spike, removed leftover debug text from enemies and trimmed some expensive background checks. Bigger swarms should feel noticeably lighter.

Steadier Hands in Co-op

  • Clients can no longer fire while reloading, and the host no longer fires for a client who is mid-reload.
  • Fixed clients sometimes reloading several times in a row.
  • Holding the attack button now resumes firing right after a reload.
  • Weapons now reload properly when you fire your last bullet.
  • Dodge rolls now correctly avoid damage for client players.
  • After being revived, you get a brief window of invulnerability, with a visual effect so everyone can see it.

Further Disturbances

  • Adjusted enemy spawn timing in a number of rooms across all three acts, and reworked a couple of Act 2 encounters for better pacing.
  • V-Sync is now saved and loaded correctly between sessions.
  • The settings menu now shows your saved settings when you open it, and the Apply button reacts as soon as you change something. The Apply button has also moved.
  • Tooltips for elements on the right side of the screen now open to the left, so they no longer get cut off.
  • If Steam isn't running when you launch the game, you'll now get a clear error message instead of the game just closing.
  • Fixed a camera targeting issue when leaving the pause menu.

Twenty-one marks are waiting in the deep. Go claim them, and share your rarest unlocks with us on Discord and in the forums. We want to know who made the Hydra stay down first.

See you in the dark.
