Update 1.11: Vehicle Improvements & Skins, Boars, and Balance Changes

Bad Pixel

Hello Deadsiders!

Version 1.11 will be released later today at 12:00PM CEST / 5:00AM CDT!

Warning: Due to changes with vehicle mechanics we are forced to delete existing vehicles on release so that the update functions correctly

Modders may need to update their mods in the 1.11 Modkit build for them to function This update comes with new content that we will cover today, as well as a ton of balance changes all made according to your feedback. Let’s begin with some of the content we haven’t covered in the last WIP post:

Let's begin with even more vehicle features, starting with a new vehicle speed boost! Now if you press Shift while driving a vehicle you will get a boost in speed at the cost of increased fuel consumption. Useful for getting out of dangerous situations, not so useful for long distance trips.

This update won’t just be making vehicles stronger though, you now have a new way to combat them. You can now shoot out the tires of a vehicle with a handful of accurate shots. The amount of shots depends on the damage being dealt by your weapon. This slows down the vehicle considerably if all tires are destroyed, allowing you to shift focus to the now exposed passengers.

The last new vehicle feature we have for you in this update is a cosmetic one; vehicle skins! With this new DLC, you can press U on your vehicle to reskin it at any time. This skin pack comes with 4 different skin variations, if you are interested check it out here:

In addition to that there have been a bunch of vehicle balance changes, all of which you can read in a list at the bottom of this post. These changes were all made based on requests from the community, we appreciate the feedback. Covering everything briefly; vehicles lose durability slower, consume a bit less gas, and spawn more often.

Another change is how vehicle storage works, now your mechanic’s workbench needs to be within line of sight of the vehicle for it to be maintained. This is to prevent any sort of situation where another player leaves vehicles at someone else’s base to drain their supplies. Here is an example of how we intend it to work in 1.11:

We have already covered the new animal a few times before in previous posts, but for those who aren’t caught up; version 1.11 will add boars!

These new boars have the most HP of any animal in game, but also drop the most resources. Boars provide good food, a head for decoration, and fat that can be converted into machine oil. First render the fat in a campfire, then combine with other materials at an Advanced Workbench to create Machine Oil.

As always the art team continues to improve Mirny, this time around they have given the popular Khimash POI a fresh coat of paint. The overall layout is retained, with more added details and a bit more cover to use. Other locations have been improved as well, so keep an eye out while roaming around.

The blueprints menu has been improved as well, now displaying the crafting recipes of all items. This means you don't have to look at a workbench just to figure out what items you need to be collecting. There will also be repair and dismantling workbenches added to the safe zone, making repair easier on the move.

When it comes to balance changes you all have had a lot of feedback for us recently, and we have been listening. Version 1.11 will come with a lot of balance tweaks based on your feedback, so many that it would be easier for everyone if it was in a list. So let us know what you think about these changes! Nothing here is final yet so we can make changes
