DIG

Release Date and EA New Features

Alkame Games

About the release: we're still waiting for Steam to approve our build. We submitted it on October 20, but it hasn't been approved yet. We're sorry for the delay, and we'll let you know as soon as it's approved!

Want to support us? The best way is to share DIG with your friends! Reaching more people at launch means a more active community and even more fun for everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone who played the demo! We received 800+ comments and read every single one of them. A lot of what you'll find below came straight from your feedback.

Throughout all of this, one goal stayed at the top of our list: keeping DIG cozy. More depth, more content and more things to do, but never a game that wears you out. Relaxed pacing, no harsh penalties, and plenty of room to just dig with friends.

Here's what's new since the demo:

Dig Deeper: 500 Metres

  • The demo stopped at 100 m of unbreakable bedrock. Now you can dig all the way down to 500 m.
  • 7 layers (30 / 75 / 135 / 210 / 295 / 390 / 500 m), each with its own fill, veins and hazards.
  • Ice layer: slippery and see-through. You can spot hidden pockets through thinner ice.
  • Hit rule: a tool one tier below a block breaks it in 5 hits and gives you a hint. Two tiers below won't break it at all.
  • 7 shovel tiers, topped by the Icebreaker Shovel and the Obsidian Shovel.
  • Discovery recipes: finding a deep raw material for the first time unlocks its recipe.
  • 28 new products, each with its own model, plus 33 new story chapters and 6 new letters from the deep. Two pen pals are waiting for you at 350 m and 450 m.

Master Blacksmith

  • Tool tiers now come from the Master Blacksmith, who arrives on the day ship and also has a forge in town. They no longer come from the skill tree.
  • You can sell ore to the Blacksmith.

The Night Ship

Every night, a ship of travelling merchants docks at the pier:

  • Rüstem the Trader: trades that are way too generous for his own good.
  • Master Cemil: tool skins and charms. The legendary ones are animated!
  • Granny Nine the Fortune Teller: fortune cookies that grant a one-day blessing (or curse) and can even turn you into an animal.
  • Ayla the Shepherd:Furry Friends, companions that follow you around.
  • Lale the Gambler: prize wheel, slot machine, coin pusher and claw machine.

Lucky Blocks

Lucky Blocks can turn up while you dig. Break one for a surprise good (or not-so-good) effect!

Stations

  • Stations now go up to level 7 (levels 4–7 need team level 9 / 12 / 16 / 20), and their models change as they level up.
  • Paint Station (team level 15): 9 mineral paints and 90 colour variants across 10 products. Painted orders are worth 30% more.
  • Gear Bench: Lamps, Elevator Kits and Scaffold Towers are crafted instantly.
  • You can now have up to 4 Scaffold Towers.
  • Redesigned station panel: wide recipe cards, ×1 / ×5 crafting, and clear "have / need" material counts.

Play Together (or Solo)

  • Single-player mode
  • Lobby invites and Steam join requests
  • Text chat
  • Radio with 8 songs, plus the Old Radio skill
  • Spending permission for the team wallet (the host decides who can spend)
  • Your outfits, tool charms and Furry Friends are saved separately from any one world, so they follow you into every world.

A Brand-New Tutorial

  • Rewritten from scratch: a chair order, then a letter, then your first digging order, with a step-by-step checklist that ticks off as you go.
  • Tutorial Notebook: a 10-chapter guide you can open any time from the ESC menu.
  • The tutorial is optional and you can skip or restart it. Players who join later get a one-time heads-up.
  • A Level up! card shows you what to do next.

Quality of Life

  • Quick transfer between chests and your bag with Shift / Ctrl
  • Place dirt back with your shovel
  • Elevator stops every 10 m
  • Tasks panel, with the option to pin buildings to your screen
  • The Blueprint Detector locks onto a single scroll, and its beep tells you left/right, up/down and how close you are.
  • Placement previews for elevators and towers show white when the spot is valid and red when it isn't, with the reason.
  • Fall protection: if you fall off the map or end up under the ground, you're returned to your last safe spot. Fall damage is capped at 60%.
  • Buried items are recovered, and dug-up items pop out in an empty space.
  • "Hold" has been replaced by a penalty-free Decline. A declined personal request comes back 2 ships later.

Balance Changes

  • Digging XP now scales with team size (divided by the square root of connected players), so big groups don't race through levels. Delivery and building XP are unchanged.
  • Clay and stone pockets roughly doubled in the top 135 m. Sand and ore are unchanged.
  • The Night Ship and the Blacksmith ship arrive from team level 5. The Furnace also unlocks at team level 5.
  • Recipes are now spread across station levels. Station upgrades for levels 4–7 cost 4,000 / 8,000 / 18,000 / 45,000.
  • A painted product also fills an order for the plain version.
  • The Purple Crystal Window and Fish Fossil chains now unlock as you go deeper, and most shallow chapters have deeper alternatives.

Fixes

  • Custom key bindings no longer reset when you restart the game.
  • Fixed broken special characters in multiplayer.
  • Fixed a duplicate notification after crafting.
  • Plenty of smaller audio and visual polish.

Thank you for digging with us, and keep the feedback coming!
