Eternally

Eternally launches 14 October: everything new since the demo

Astral Kranium Ltd

It has been quiet here since the 0.6.7 patch in June, but not in the project. Eternally 1.0 launches on Steam on Wednesday 14 October, and this is what has changed since the last update.

Shimmer: rewrite a bad roll

The biggest addition is Shimmer. Gather it from the battlefield and from fallen enemies, and when a roll misses, spend it to rewind and adjust time: the missed die turns into its highest roll. Build into the new Temporal Weave skill tree and Shimmer does a lot more, opening up abilities and quirks that bend the turn in your favour. Shimmer items push it further still.

The full campaign

Eight campaign levels, each asking something different of your party. Some are a straight fight to defeat every enemy on the field. Others are more elaborate, like quests to rescue villagers before it is too late. The story text has been rewritten across all eight levels.

More ways to build

Over 250 skills across the four Eternals. Ara gets new branches for Pebble Bullet, Sentient Pebble and Pebble Shield. Frazzah's Ice Clone has new upgrades. Morrathil's blight and familiars go deeper, and Synn gains new mist abilities such as Shadowtide and Tidal Aegis.

New loot

A big wave of new items. Each Eternal now has their own relics, which you can upgrade into epic relics as the campaign goes on. Alongside them are new rare and epic finds, such as the Cinderscale Egg, which hatches a Black Dragon to fight at your side.

Tougher enemies

Elite enemies now roll affixes such as Impervious, Regenerative and Ruthless, so the same fight can play out differently each time. New monsters join the roster, including the Gravewind Serpent.

Quality of life

  • Mid-level checkpoints, so a lost fight no longer costs you the whole level.
  • Full controller support, Steam Cloud saves and Steam achievements.
  • A damage breakdown that shows exactly where every hit came from.
  • Respec your skill tree once per playthrough.
  • English, French and Polish.

Under the hood

Weeks of bug hunting, plus a performance pass on combat effects, AI turns and vision.

Play solo, with up to three friends online, or with a friend on the same PC. The demo is still available if you want a taste first, and wishlisting Eternally gets you a notification the moment it goes live.

See you on the 14th.
