Fairground Online – Devlog
It’s time for another look behind the scenes at the development of Fairground Online. A lot has happened over the past few weeks, and we’d like to show you what we’re currently working on and what you can expect in an upcoming version.
Alongside new rides, there are also map expansions, new options for the Peeps, and several changes designed to make the overall gameplay experience more enjoyable.
New Content
Two new rides are coming to the game with the upcoming version.
Soundexpress
Soundexpress will be released as a new DLC and brings a classic Musik Express ride to the game. Another true fairground classic is joining the Fairground Online ride lineup.
Teufelstanz
Teufelstanz will be available for free to all players. The ride is based on a Hexentanz and will be added as new free content.
Map Expansion
Quite a few changes have also been made to the fairground itself. Three new stalls are being added to the map:
- Fries stall
- Pizza stall
- Crêpes stall
Various parts of the existing map have also been reworked. Trees, fences, and other details have been adjusted to make the fairground feel more lively and cohesive.
Two older stalls are also receiving a complete redesign.
New Features for Peeps
Our Peeps have learned a few new tricks as well.
They can now scream and can be interacted with directly by the player using a new button.
We are also working on an experimental voice interaction system. This allows you to interact with Peeps using your voice.
This feature is still in an early testing phase and does not work reliably in every situation yet. We will continue developing and testing it to see what will be possible with the system in the future.
Quality of Life
Alongside the larger additions, we have also implemented a number of smaller and larger improvements.
The AI now uses reduced lighting during the daytime. This avoids unnecessary lighting and helps make the overall experience feel more realistic.
A new subway teleport station and teleport system have also been added, allowing you to move around the map more quickly.
Shops and stalls now have shutters. These can automatically open and close together with the fairground, or they can be controlled manually by the player.
The individual gates on the Ferris wheel can now be locked separately. This gives you more control over which boarding areas remain open or closed.
There is also a new option for audio sources: programs and applications can now be selected directly as an audio source.
To make the controls of rides and other interactive elements easier to understand, buttons and switches will now display a text description of their function.
What’s Next
As always, we are continuing to work on further improvements, bug fixes, new content, and new features for Fairground Online.
Some of the newer systems, especially the voice interaction with Peeps, will continue to be tested and expanded in future versions.
We’re looking forward to letting you try Soundexpress, Teufelstanz, and the new features for yourselves soon.
