Update 0.8: A New Castaway, Earthsplitter, the Treant Reborn — and Longer Nights
Thank you for the honest feedback
After launch, a player told us two things straight: the game looked like "low-resolution smooth polygons", and the animation was clunky — a castaway holding a spear but punching enemies with it. They were right. This update is our answer.
A new castaway, with real animation
- The castaway is now a fully rigged character with proper keyframed animation for idle, walking, running, hits and death.
- Every weapon moves the way it should: spears thrust, axes and blades chop, bare fists punch left and right.
- Weapons sit in the hand and follow every swing.
New skill: Earthsplitter
Punch Flurry is gone. Bare-handed, you now smash the ground with both fists and a glowing ember crack tears 8 m ahead , spitting sparks and dust and throwing up every enemy along it.
The Ancient Treant, reborn
The forest's guardian has a new, fully animated body and new attacks:
- Root Storm: green cracks spread under your feet, then thorned roots burst out of the earth.
- Thorn Volley: a ring of thorns flung out in every direction.
- Every blow sheds a storm of leaves.
Longer nights
Night now lasts twice as long as day : about 13 minutes of dark to 7 of daylight. Creatures still hit harder after dusk and the raids still come. Plan your trips, light your torches, and make the short days count.
A crisper look
- Faceted, sharp-edged shading on trees, rocks and props.
- The thick coloured haze that blurred the whole island by day now only gathers at dusk and night.
- A greener, clearer palette and a new colour grade, so characters stand out from the ground.
- A new game icon.
Fixes
- Fixed the castaway sliding around in a T-pose after attacking while starting and stopping.
- Fixed the wrong character models flashing on screen for a moment when a game starts.
Still Early Access
This is a small team working on every piece of the game. If something looks off, feels clunky, or breaks, tell us in the Discussions or leave a review. That feedback is exactly what shaped this update.
See you on the island. Keep the fire burning.
