[v1.0] Full Release
Gun Up has moved from Early Access to full release. It used to be a wave-by-wave survival game. It is now a constant-onslaught survivor roguelite: enemies keep coming, you level up and pick upgrades as you fight, and every run builds toward a boss and an escape.
Core gameplay
- Continuous enemy fight. Enemies spawn nonstop around you, with spawn speed increasing every wave. The old break-between-waves structure is gone.
- XP and level-ups. Kills drop XP gems. When you level up the game pauses and you pick one of several upgrade cards: new weapons, perks, potions and more.
- Card rerolls. You can reroll the offered cards (rerolls come from permanent upgrades).
- Luck and Curse. Luck adds extra card choices and better drops. Curse makes enemies tougher but gives more XP, and it rises additionally on its own every 10 waves.
- Two modes. Default (30 minutes) and Quick (10 minutes, same 30 waves).
- Power-ups. Enemies can drop Max Ammo, Nuke, Magnet and Free XP pickups.
- Regeneration. Health now regenerates after a few seconds without taking damage.
- Player classes. SWAT, Thug, Worker and Teddy, each with its own health, energy and speed.
- Sprint and energy. Running uses an energy bar.
Boss and escape
- The Butcher. In the final minute everything else vanishes and the Butcher walks in. He has slams, leaps, bone volleys, ground-zone barrages and, later, a bullet ring. He gets faster and meaner in three phases.
- Evacuation helicopter. If the timer runs out, a helicopter arrives and everyone has to get on it before the area is nuked. Killing the Butcher also wins the match.
- Results screen. It shows time survived, wave reached, kills, damage, MVP and the coins you earned.
Weapons and arsenal
- Many new guns. A large batch of new weapons, melee weapons and utilities, all with new art, plus weapon rebalancing.
- Weapon fusion. Combine two weapons into one with a fusion screen that rolls the new stats. Certain pairs unlock special fusion weapons. Discovered recipes are tracked.
- Auto-use systems. Pick passives that work on their own: automatic grenades, mines, shockwaves and a medic.
- Utilities. Grenades, claymores, molotovs, monkey bomb, Infinibear, sentry turrets and stim shots.
Enemies
- Bigger roster. Hasty, fat and tanky zombies, the Astro, Hound, Beastmaster, Shrouder, splitters, juggernauts, medics and more. Many have unique abilities.
- Scaling. Enemy health and damage scale with Curse and with the number of players.
Meta Progression
- Coins. You earn coins from damage dealt, with a bonus for killing the Butcher.
- Permanent upgrades. Spend coins on base health, base energy, base speed, card rerolls, Luck and Curse.
- Armory. Unlock additional weapons and utilities.
- Achievements. Around 30 new achievements. Some unlock armory items.
Co-op and online
- Co-op for up to 4. Downed players come back as ghosts and respawn next to a teammate after 60 seconds.
- Smoother online play. Remote players and enemies now move smoothly even at low update rates.
- Slow-connection friendly. The host sends each player only the enemies near them and lowers the update rate when there are too many.
