V0.6.1 Update: Run Saves Are Live! Endless Mode Overhauled & the Base Rat Mercha
Rangers — v0.6.1 is a mid-to-large update. Run saves are now live, Endless Mode has been overhauled, and a rat merchant has set up shop in the base. We also cleared out a batch of long-standing issues (missing settlement screens, load-related bugs, settings that didn't apply).
1. New: Run Save & Continue
- Progress is recorded automatically at the start of each level, and synced when you pause.
- "Continue" from the main menu returns you to the start of that level, restoring hero level, HP/shield, backpack and coins, weapons (quality, damage, installed and solidified mods), skill cooldowns, relics, enemy scaling and difficulty.
- Rules:
- Camp (base), Daily Challenge and Endless Mode do not write run saves.
- After clearing the run or on a defeat settlement, the run save is cleared automatically.
To avoid save-scumming, only the level start is stored — mid-level state is intentionally not saved.
2. Major Overhaul: Endless Mode
Endless Mode has been reworked so a run can keep building , not just keep going:
- In-run forge — upgrade weapon quality mid-run; late drops are no longer blank slates.
- 10-second breathers between waves — resupply and reposition instead of one endless slide.
- New relic chests and mod chests — late-run builds can still come together.
- Retuned wave pacing and rest timing — a smoother early/mid curve with a sharper late-game.
- Jump straight into Endless from the settlement screen, carrying your current build.
3. New: Mod Solidification
- Upgrading a weapon at the forge now solidifies its installed mods into the weapon itself: they don't consume slots and persist permanently — swapping, dropping and re-picking all keep them.
4. New: Base Rat Merchant
- A rat merchant now runs a fixed stall in the base: 6 items — 2–3 weapons plus attachments/relics, weapons starting at green quality.
- Base purchases use Exploration Points (10× the shard price), separate from in-run coins.
- The shelf can be refreshed for a new roll (price increases with each refresh).
- Leaving the base no longer clears your backpack or weapons.
5. Quality of Life
- Co-op: in camp, either player entering a portal now advances the level.
- Camera and controls recover properly after the window loses and regains focus.
- Shop and forge prompts now refresh live based on your currently held weapon.
- Further combat performance work: pooled enemies/VFX and less frequent UI text refreshes.
6. Fixes
Settlement
- Fixed: with a revive/rebirth-type skill, choosing "Restart" or dying could never show the settlement screen.
- Fixed: settlement panel active but empty, with no buttons.
- Fixed: button animations freezing after a victory settlement.
- Fixed: Exploration Points earned at settlement weren't written to the save.
Saving & Loading
- Fixed: hero movement speed becoming abnormally fast after loading (leftover bullet-time multiplier).
- Fixed: the boss appearing early after repeated load cycles (enemy budget being double-counted).
- Fixed: hero getting stuck inside walls after loading (now validated against the map's legal tiles and nudged to the nearest valid spot).
Interaction & UI
- Fixed: the weapon you swap out instantly "melting into coins".
- Fixed: the "Restart" confirmation showing the "return to menu / progress will be saved" text instead.
- Fixed: the forge showing a stale "can be obtained in stage {0}" line when standing a bit further away.
- Fixed: changing Language or Fire Style not taking effect (a missed event unsubscription broke the refresh chain).
7. Notes
- Existing global saves (levels, unlocks, Exploration Points) remain compatible.
- Run saves are a separate new file; no prompts or errors on first launch.
- Please report issues in the bug thread with your Player.log and reproduction steps — we'll prioritise them.
