v1.4.5: Basic-Attack Builds Trigger Skills, QoL, Raid Rooms and Class Balance

Peter

Our last announcement covered v1.3.0. This post covers everything from v1.4.0 to v1.4.5: reworked basic-attack builds, quality-of-life improvements, raid room continuation and Auto Challenge in the Everlasting Night Court, combat fixes, class balance and portrait fixes. The build leaderboards have also been removed.

Basic-attack builds now trigger skills

The Hunter's Volley Marksman and the Cultivator's Thunderclap Sword Body used to rely almost entirely on Basic Attack Damage, so Skill Damage affixes, skill runes and most path talents did little for them. Basic attacks now cast real skills, so Skill Damage, runes and talents all apply. Attack speed is still capped at four attacks per second. Excess attack speed still becomes Basic Attack Damage, and now also increases the damage of the skills your basic attacks trigger.

Volley Marksman (Hunter)

  • 2 pieces: +12% Attack Speed, +30% Skill Damage (previously +30% Basic Attack Damage).
  • 4 pieces: every 4th basic attack automatically fires a Multishot without using its cooldown. Hawkeye Longbow's repeat shots count as basic attacks.
  • 6 pieces: Multishot damage ×2.76. While Attack Speed is over the cap, Multishot damage gains another +50% for every 100% over it.
  • Hunter's Beat (gloves): basic attacks in a row on the same target build Beat stacks; each stack gives +5% Multishot damage, up to +60%. Resets when you switch targets.

Thunderclap Sword Body (Cultivator)

  • 4 pieces (unchanged): at full Sword Intent, enter Thunder Body automatically.
  • 6 pieces: during Thunder Body, every 5th basic attack automatically casts Lightning Call, without using its cooldown or Sword Intent. Lightning Call damage ×3. While Attack Speed is over the cap, Lightning Call damage gains another +25% for every 100% over it.
  • Thunderclap Sword Case (off-hand): its lightning strike now counts as Lightning Call, so Skill Damage, the Lightning Call set bonus and the Thunder Tribulation talent apply.

In our fully geared tests, both sets now deal about 30–50% more damage than the skill builds on the same path (Barrage Archer and Nine Heavens Thunder) and reach the same or slightly higher Rift floors. We now recommend Skill Damage affixes for both. Court gear can now also carry the effects of these three basic-attack Legendaries: Hawkeye Longbow (weapon), Hunter's Beat (gloves) and Thunderclap Sword Case (off-hand). As with drops, they only take effect after Torment is unlocked.

Quality of life

  • The Shared Stash has a new Quick Transfer: take out all gear for your current class at once, or store all other-class gear from your bag and personal stash in the Shared Stash (Oddities are left alone). If there is not enough room, it tells you how many items are left.
  • The Smith can now enhance, enchant and socket items in your bag without equipping them first. Item details in the bag also have a To Smith button.
  • Enchanting now happens right in the Smith. Pick a stat and the panel lists every affix it can roll into, with value ranges, so you know before enchanting whether the stat you want is possible. After enchanting, choose one of three options on the spot: two new results or keep the original.
  • Court gear can now be enchanted into an affix with the same name as one of its ◆ fixed lines, and both apply. Previously the ◆ lines blocked those results; Skyburner, for example, could never roll Damage vs Elites or Skill Damage.
  • Court gear can now be salvaged manually (one at a time, by selection, or by turning off the Court gear protection in bulk salvage). The loot filter, a full bag and auto-salvage still never touch it.
  • During Auto Rift, pressing Quit now offers Stop after this floor: the current floor is completed and rewarded normally, so no key is wasted.
  • Dummy tests can now run Without Paragon, ignoring Paragon levels, Paragon points and Abyss Mastery during the test.
  • Ring comparisons now show both rings and mark them as left or right hand.
  • Fixed the camp Affinity list being squeezed together.

Everlasting Night Court

  • Room continuation: after a party raid, the results panel now has a Back to room button and the party stays together. When the host returns, the room reopens, weekly loot eligibility, item level and Ingots refresh automatically, and the host can change difficulty and start again. Anyone who wants to leave can press Leave room.
  • Each run after reopening has different drops, auctions and boss skills, while everyone in the party sees the same results. The member cap stays the same, so new players can still be invited. Players who left the room lobby can rejoin.
  • Solo Challenge has a new Auto Challenge switch. After a boss falls you move on to the next one automatically; after all 7 bosses, another round starts if this difficulty still has loot eligibility this week (bosses that already dropped gear drop nothing). It stops and returns you to the main story when no drops are left or after wiping on the same boss 3 times in a row. You can stop at any time with the Court button → Leave raid.
  • Fixed weekly lockouts not resetting for players who only played Solo Challenge and never went online. Lockouts still reset every Monday at 00:00; the Steam version uses Steam server time.
  • Trash enemies now spawn near each player's own starting spot, so a melee hero in the fourth position can reach them. Holy Shock no longer ends up without a target.

Combat fixes

  • Poison: poison damage used to remember the highest value you had ever been hit with. After pushing a high Rift or Torment level, touching any poisonous enemy could hit you with that old, much larger damage. Poison is now recalculated for the new enemy once the previous poison ends, and it resets when you revive.
  • Reflecting elites: they used to reflect every single hit, so multi-hit attacks could lose several health bars in one second. Each reflecting elite now reflects at most once every 0.5 seconds, and pets, Thorns and triggered effects no longer cause reflection.
  • Necromancer: Undying King (+2 skeleton cap) and March of the Dead (up to 2 skeletons over the cap) no longer cancel each other out. The Divine Eagle no longer takes a skeleton slot, and changing gear no longer removes skeletons summoned by the March.
  • Machinist: when Gravity Well's cooldown is shorter than its duration, placing a new well now makes the old one collapse and deal its damage first instead of simply disappearing.

Class balance

Hunter

  • Passive: +10% Dodge chance, +15% Max Life.
  • Gale Ranger, Forest Shepherd and Artisan Hunter: their 2-piece bonuses now also grant +30% Armor.
  • Gale Ranger 6 pieces: Multishot damage ×6 → ×13.
  • Forest Shepherd 6 pieces: falcon damage ×3 → ×4.
  • Artisan Hunter 6 pieces: Blast Trap and Explosive Arrow damage ×4 → ×5.5.

Necromancer

  • Passive: Max Life +10% → +20%, and now also -10% damage taken.
  • Plague Apostle: the 2-piece bonus now also grants +15% Max Life; 6-piece Corpse Explosion and Withering Curse damage ×10 → ×14.
  • Undertaker 6 pieces: Soul Scythe damage ×24 → ×32.

Portraits

  • The tier 2 and tier 3 outfit portraits of the Cultivator, Necromancer and Machinist have been redrawn. The sword, lantern and wings on their backs used to be cut in two at the shoulder; each is now one complete image, and the outfits have new designs.
  • Fixed blurry seams near the shoulders on the Warrior's tier 2, the Paladin's tier 2 and 3, and the Mage's tier 3 portraits. The outfits are unchanged.

Build leaderboards removed

The global Steam build leaderboards kept failing to connect for many players, and changing the connection method in v1.3.0 did not solve it, so the feature has been removed along with the trophy button in the top bar. Achievements, co-op with friends and other Steam features are not affected.

After updating

  • Existing saves work without any extra steps. Equipped sets and Legendaries switch to their new effects automatically. If your weekly lockout had not reset, press the Court button once after updating.
  • The co-op protocol has not changed, so you can still share rooms with v1.4.x and v1.3.0. Back to room requires everyone in the party to be on v1.4.2 or later, and the room reopening fixes require the host to be on the new version. Class values are calculated by each player's own version, so we recommend that everyone in a party updates to the same version.
