Hype Week Day 4: New Uniques

Eleventh Hour Games

Hello and welcome to Hype Week Day 4! Rounding out the last of the deep dives it’s a big one, it’s new Unique item day! For the first time ever, we are unveiling every new Unique item coming in Season 5 so get ready to start theorycrafting. We’ve also got a look at the new Traveler’s Rest and Nexus that will help you feel right at home.

New Uniques

Heorot's Repose is a new, Unique sword that causes Avalanche to gain spell damage equal to your added melee damage. The weapon also offers mana regeneration, while melee hits cause an Avalanche boulder to strike a random enemy nearby. Morditas’ Vengeance is a new spear that can only be obtained from the Pinnacle Morditas boss encounter, God of Bloodshed. This spear has the unique property of preventing your health leech from ending at full health. This allows the leech you’ve accrued to be ready to restore your health the moment you fall back below full health. And since your leech doesn’t end, effects like “health leech also drains the health of the nearest enemy” will continue even when you’re at full health. Another Morditas themed item coming in Season 5 is Frostborn Solitude. While you can equip a maximum of one, this item has stats that adapt its effect based on how many Heretical idols you have equipped. Devoured Knowledge offers mana scaling for Acolytes and several ways to utilize mana defensively. Can you benefit from all of them at once? Perilous Reflection causes your Marrow Shards to return to you, hitting enemies a second time along the way. Unlike Marrow Shards’ base health consumption, this effect requires a percentage of your maximum health, so if you can’t pay the cost, it won’t apply. One of the first new Season 5 items teased by our Game Director, Mike Weicker, is Unbroken Legion! This helmet doubles the maximum number of skeletons and provides a chance for skeletons to be resummoned seconds after they die. Your skeletons will also gain Frenzy and Haste for 4 seconds after being summoned. With this Unique, you cannot summon non-skeleton specializable minions. Fused Elements is a Unique relic that forces Gathering Storm to randomly convert to lightning, physical, or cold damage. Wrangler's Keepsake is a Primalist relic that gives you and your companions Aspect of the Grole. To help channel your inner Gregory Grole, this also increases the effects of Viper, Lynx, and Shark Aspects. Withstand the Elements is our second foray into using variant affixes. It will choose two variant affixes from a pool of eight, each of which scales with your cold or physical resistances.

Effusive Oath is a winged helm that converts the Radiant Lance skill to Physical damage. You take more damage from bosses and rare enemies, but the payoff here is that a percentage of damage inflicted by bosses and rare enemies is dealt over 4 seconds instead. Scorched Earth is a Unique idol that converts Summon Tide Elemental to fire while granting your minions additional fire penetration. Vestige of Imprisonment is a new chestpiece worthy of a gladiator's triumphs. It causes all hit damage taken to bypass ward, but grants significant ward generation based on your uncapped cold resistance. There is a growing appetite for exceptionally powerful items, and we’re excited to bring you more. In Season 5, we have an opportunity to introduce three exceptionally rare and powerful Unique items that are much rarer than a Red Ring. These three new, epicly powerful, and mega rare Uniques are truly in their own class of power. If you manage to find one, it will be a glorious day. It is said that the celestial gloves, Gift of the Eidolon, represent a part of Eterra's past that she still holds close to her heart. Debuting in Season 5, these coveted gloves will provide you with Haste and Frenzy at the same time! Not only that, but you will take less damage over time when you have Haste. While you have Frenzy, it increases the area of effect for area skills. Perhaps finding a pair of these is a sign of Eterra blessing your luck, Traveler.

If you’ve been following Mike and his teasers for Season 5, you’ll know that a certain amulet known as Eternal Font was revealed back in August. Eternal Font embodies how a desperate final wish, even in a vast ocean, can lead to unforeseen power. Eternal Font causes you to use a potion every second, even if you have no potions. This also activates any effects that occur on potion use. Death Dance completely removes the cooldown on evade and causes you to also use your leftmost specialized ability (as viewed in your skills panel) every time you evade. This includes abilities with cooldowns, as long as the cooldown abilities are on your bar: it will attempt to use whichever leftmost specialized ability is not currently on cooldown. Because this allows indirectly using almost any ability in the game, we’ve had to go through and make sure a lot of new possibilities work as expected. And with its low level requirement, it could be a fun way to leap through the campaign on alts… assuming you can get your hands on one of these, of course. Three powerful items, all in their own way, await the most determined travelers. With that, we have another themed item reveal for Season 5, Unsated Rage. Unsated Rage is a brand new ring that uses a new variant affix system. When the item drops, it will pick from a pool of affixes exclusive to this Unique. In the case of this ring, the variant affix permanently grants 1 of 27 Rage buffs which are otherwise found as temporary buffs in the Rage of Morditas encounter. Getting the version with the exact buff you want may take some fishing, but there are some incredibly powerful effects available. Some of these Rage buffs grant ways to trigger new subskills, and in those cases the item will also display a tooltip for that subskill. Whether it's to improve survivability, push damage, or empower yourself or allies, these buffs offer plenty of exciting possibilities to explore and chase. With so many Rage buffs joining the fray with Unsated Rage, we’ve decided to share some today. Each buff brings something different to the table and might open up new ways to play your builds.

  • Explosive Rage grants you 50% increased area of effect for area skills.
  • Sanguine Rage grants you 200% bleed chance and 100% increased damage over time.
  • Evasive Rage activates whenever you use Evade, scattering 5 blood runes underneath nearby enemies that deal damage after exploding a second later.
  • Icy Rage channels another one of Morditas' abilities, creating a large icy area under bosses or rare enemies you kill, and dealing damage over time.

If you missed out on some of the other Rage buffs being revealed, check out our Day 1 post featuring Rage of Morditas.

New Set Items

Caretaker’s Regrowth is a new two-piece Set for Primalists, empowering Entangling Roots and causing it to cast automatically while moving. And yes, Entangling Roots is getting buffed. You’ll have to wait for the full patch notes to see everything, but its damage over time effect can now stack, so cast as many Roots as you’d like!

Traveler’s Rest

When you visit The End of Time, you’ll notice a new town style waypoint that leads to Traveler’s Rest, a renamed and upgraded version of Echo of a World. Traveler’s Rest will operate as your main access point to the endgame and monoliths. You’ll have access to your stash, forge, merchant, and the Nexus, which will help you navigate the Monolith easier than before.

The Nexus

A new activity UI, known as the Nexus, awaits you in Traveler’s Rest. You’ll be able to select timelines, specific endgame activities, dungeons, and even see your factions from here. Going forward, this will be your centralized access to end-game activities. But don’t worry, they will still be available the old fashioned way too.
