Overhaul Update Out Now! Mining Mechs Third Anniversary

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well!

Mining Mechs is turning 3 years old, and to celebrate I’m releasing the biggest update the game has ever had: a complete overhaul, free for everyone and out now. It’s still the Mining Mechs you know, with the same gameplay and the same look. But under the hood it’s been rebuilt to run smoother, play better in co-op, and stay ready for years of updates.

Try it early on the beta branch

The update is out now on the Steam beta branch, and I’d love your help testing it before it goes live for everyone. How to join the beta:

• 1. Right-click Mining Mechs in your Steam Library.
• 2. Click Properties, then Game Versions & Betas.
• 3. Pick beta from the list.
• 4. Let the game update.

Any feedback helps, whether it’s a bug, something that feels off, or something you like. Please feel free to use the brand new in-game "Bug Report / Feedback" button in the main or pause menu. If testing goes smoothly, I hope to release the update to everyone before the weekend.

What’s new

• A complete GUI re-design. A sleek new look to all of the GUI in the game.
• Better co-op. Leaner networking, better syncing, plus many stability fixes.
• Any screen, any shape. From 4:3 all the way to 32:9 ultrawide. The game also remembers your window size and position.
• Safer progress. Settings save the moment you change them, and autosave keeps running while the game is in the background.
• Smarter pipes. T-splits start growing right away instead of waiting for the main pipe.
• No more lag deep underground. The slowdown below 700 m is gone, and the game runs smoother at every depth.
• Plus plenty of bug fixes and stability improvements.

Why now?

When I made Mining Mechs, I was just making games for fun. I’m not a programmer by trade, and the code was the best I could do at the time, even if it made bugs hard to fix. I never expected hundreds of thousands of you to play it! I’ve learned a lot in the three years since, and this overhaul puts every one of those lessons back into the game.
