Overhaul Update Out Now! Dino Discovery DLC Next Week
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing great!
Today Mining Merchant gets its biggest update since launch: a full overhaul, free for everyone and out now. The places you dig, the mechs and your shop are the same ones you know. Under the hood, almost everything has been rebuilt: a reworked interface, smoother co-op, better performance, and a game that’s finally ready for a lot more content.
Try it early on the beta branch
The update is out now on the Steam beta branch, and I’d love your help testing it before it goes live for everyone. How to join the beta:
- 1. Right-click Mining Mechs in your Steam Library.
- 2. Click Properties, then Game Versions & Betas.
- 3. Pick beta from the list.
- 4. Let the game update.
Any feedback helps, whether it’s a bug, something that feels off, or something you like. Please feel free to use the brand new in-game "Bug Report / Feedback" button in the main or pause menu. If testing goes smoothly, I hope to release the update to everyone before the weekend.
What’s changed
- A complete GUI rework. The whole interface has been rebuilt from the ground up. The main menu, settings and pause menu have a sleek new look, with the settings neatly split into Game, Screen and Sound. All the pixel-art panels you know are still there, but now work better with any aspect ratio.
- Any screen, any shape. Play on anything from 4:3 to 32:9 ultrawide, resize the window freely, and the game remembers its size and position. Fullscreen no longer starts as a bugged window.
- Smoother co-op. Lots of multiplayer crashes and sync issues have been fixed.
- Better performance. The end-of-day report and calendar no longer slow the game down, the underground is drawn far more efficiently, there’s less stuttering while you dig and blast, and maps load faster.
- The Compendium. A new field journal that fills up with every ore, gem, piece of jewelry, person and place you discover.
- Shop helpers. Upgrade your checkout and storage rooms and you get some help: Meow checks out your customers, and Deej restocks your displays.
- Plus lots of smaller fixes, including the crashes many of you reported.
Why an overhaul?
Mining Merchant came out in May, after about a year of building it on my own. The game grew a lot during development, and the code behind it grew with it, not always in the neatest way. Your reviews and bug reports showed me where it was holding the game back: crashes in co-op, settings that didn’t stick, screens it didn’t fit. So instead of patching around it, I went back and rebuilt the foundations.
Built for what’s next
This overhaul isn’t just about fixing what was there. With a solid foundation, I can keep supporting Mining Merchant for a long time, just like Mining Mechs and Super Mining Mechs, which get the same overhaul today. The first thing it made possible is the Dino Discovery DLC, coming next week! Dig up dinosaur skeletons, free their bones at the new fossil table, and show them off in your shop to earn donations from your customers.
Thank you
To everyone who has played Mining Merchant, left a review or sent me a bug report: thank you. Your feedback shaped this update, and I can’t wait to keep building on it with you. Happy mining, and happy selling!
