MAJOR UPDATE 1.28 — THE MATCH COMES ALIVE
PLAYERS NOW TALK TO EACH OTHER
Matches just became much more alive. Players now communicate naturally on the pitch. They can ask for the ball with phrases like “Pass it!”, “Here!”, “I’m free!” or simply raise their hand to get a teammate’s attention. Goalkeepers are much more vocal too, shouting when they rush out for a loose ball, claim crosses or corners, and giving instructions while organizing the wall. Every voice comes directly from the player speaking through 3D positional audio, and their mouth moves while they talk. Each player also keeps their own voice and tone instead of everyone sounding the same. On PC, teams can even communicate in their own language: Italian teams speak Italian, French teams French, Brazilian teams Portuguese, Argentine teams Spanish, and so on. On Quest, PICO and mobile they use the language selected in the game. The system currently supports 8 spoken languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Chinese. And this is only the beginning: we’re already working on more situations such as defenders calling for offside, “Man on!”, encouragement after goals and much more.
MORE DYNAMIC FREE-KICK WALLS
During free kicks, players won’t always position themselves perfectly in the wall. Some may step forward or stand in the wrong place and, if you’re playing as the referee, you’ll need to approach them and make them move back into position. Usually your presence will be enough to make them obey, but some players may ignore you. In that case, you can warn them and, if they still refuse to cooperate, even show them a yellow card.
REWORKED BALL SOUNDS
We’ve completely revised how ball impacts sound. Powerful sounds are now reserved for real passes, crosses, headers and shots, while bounces, first touches, small dribbling touches and dropped balls sound much softer and more natural. The result is a pitch that sounds much closer to a real football match, without every small contact producing the same exaggerated impact.
CROSS-PLATFORM CLOUD PROGRESS
Your progress no longer needs to stay trapped on a single device or platform. The new cloud synchronization system lets you continue your game across Steam, Meta Quest, iOS, Android and the rest of the supported platforms. You can play on Steam or Quest and then continue on your phone with your progress, edited teams and other synchronized data exactly where you left them. We’re also working on integrating this system with your Discord user so your Motion Soccer identity can stay connected across platforms even more easily.
EVERY TEAM NOW HAS ITS OWN COACH
Every team now has its own coach instead of always using a generic appearance. From the Team Editor, you can change the coach’s name, appearance and other details, giving every club and national team much more personality. This is only the first version of the system, and we’ll continue expanding coach customization in future updates.
MORE FREEDOM FOR WORKSHOP CREATORS
We’ve significantly increased the limits for Workshop content. Balls and players can now use up to 1,000,000 triangles, and going above the recommended amount will only show a performance warning instead of preventing you from using or publishing the content. Stadiums can now be up to 1 GB. The Creator Kit also includes the textures of our Spain number 10 — kit, skin, boots and hair — so creators have a clear reference for how player textures are structured and can work directly on top of them.
IMPROVED PLAYER PREVIEWS
We’ve improved the player cards and previews used in the Team Management screen. Players now appear in cleaner poses designed specifically for these screens, avoiding situations where their arms or certain animations could partially cover their face.
MORE VARIETY FOR REFEREES & ASSISTANTS
Referees and assistant referees now have randomized appearances in each match, adding more visual variety and avoiding seeing the same officials over and over again.
MORE FREEDOM AS A SPECTATOR
Spectator Mode now gives you more places to watch the match from and much more freedom to move around the stadium. You can now move around almost the entire perimeter of the pitch and experience the match from practically any angle.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
We’ve carried out a general code optimization pass aimed at improving FPS and overall performance, especially on more demanding platforms and devices such as Meta Quest.
FIXES & SMALL IMPROVEMENTS
As always, we’ve also continued fixing issues and polishing details reported by our community.
