Update 1.31: new Physio role and rebuilt multiplayer
A new role on the touchline. More ways to share the match.
Update 1.31 brings together two of the biggest additions we have developed for Motion Soccer PRO: the new Physio role , our most complete playable role yet, and rebuilt multiplayer that lets footballers, referees, coaches, photographers, commentators and fans take part in the same match.
Look after your team. Bring your friends together. Experience football from a new perspective.
New playable role: Physio
Is a player limping after a tackle? Is another holding his thigh? Grab your medical bag: you are now part of the match medical team.
The Physio role launches in update 1.31 in offline mode. Its multiplayer integration is in development.
- Spot the signs. Players do not always ask for help. Watch how they move and mark those who need attention so they can come to the touchline at the next stoppage. You can also spot players faking an injury without any contact, which may lead to a booking from the referee.
- Treat injuries on the pitch. When the referee calls you, run to the player and open your bag beside them. You will encounter knocks, cramps, sprains, muscle tears, knee injuries, cut eyebrows, nosebleeds, dislocated fingers, concussions and even fractures.
- Investigate and decide. Watch the replay, ask the player what they feel, locate the pain and perform quick tests. Your tablet helps narrow down the diagnosis before you decide whether they can play on, need treatment, must be substituted or require a stretcher.
- Carry out the treatments. Use cold spray, ice, taping, staples, needle and thread, put a finger back in place, follow concussion protocols or apply vacuum splints. Every treatment has its own interactive mini-game, using your hands in VR or the mouse when playing without VR.
- Drive the medical cart. For serious injuries, drive onto the pitch, park next to the player, load them onto the stretcher and take them off the field. Try not to add any more casualties during the evacuation!
- Stay busy between treatments. Throw water bottles to players who ask for one, tape substitutes before they come on and keep watching the touchline.
- Read your medical report. At full time, compare your diagnoses with the actual injuries, check the score for each treatment and receive your final rating. Earn coins and improve your medical equipment.
Rebuilt multiplayer: one match, many roles
One friend shoots, another tries to save the ball and a third referees the play. Beside the pitch, someone hunts for the perfect photo while two commentators call the match from the booth.
Everyone takes part in the same match.
We have rebuilt multiplayer so everyone can choose their role and combine them within the available slots. From the main menu, you can also see how many people are in a public room and which teams are playing before joining.
Choose how to experience the match
On the pitch and touchline
- Outfield players: up to 20, with a maximum of 10 per team. Play alongside your teammates and take on the opposition directly.
- Goalkeepers: up to 2, one per team. Defend your goal.
- Coaches: up to 2, one per team. Manage your side from the technical area.
The referee team
- Main referee: 1. Control the match with your whistle and cards and make the final decisions on the pitch.
- Assistant referees: up to 2. Patrol the touchline, watch for offsides and support the main referee.
- VAR referees: up to 2. Review controversial incidents and take part in major decisions.
- Fourth official: 1. Manage substitutions, benches, added time and the substitution board.
Around the match
- Photographers: up to 6. Capture the best moments, complete live assignments and compete in the same photographer ranking.
- Commentators: up to 2. Call the match together from the booth.
- Fans: up to 10. Experience the match with your friends from the stands.
You can start with just two people
You do not need two full teams. The AI handles the positions and functions your group does not control , including refereeing.
- A photographer duel. Let the AI play the match and compete to capture the best photo of the same goal.
- A referee team among friends. Split the roles of main referee, assistants, VAR and fourth official to experience each incident from different perspectives.
- Human players and human referees. Some play the match while others referee it, with the AI filling the remaining positions: one of your most requested combinations.
- An entire stadium for your group. Add coaches on the touchline, commentators in the booth, photographers beside the pitch and friends in the stands.
In development: we are integrating the Physio into this new system and also working to bring the TV role to multiplayer. These two online additions are not yet part of update 1.31.
More refereeing situations and details
- Penalty takers can perform illegal feints after completing their run-up. Spot the infringement and make the right decision.
- New holding incidents before corners: warn the players and book repeat offenders.
- The match report lets you register own goals and select the player who scored them.
- Dropped balls are more realistic: the referee releases the ball vertically and the AI waits until it touches the ground.
- If the ball hits the referee, you have a short window to call a dropped ball. Accidental high-speed impacts no longer unfairly penalise you.
- Fouls, cards and other incidents have been balanced across the different match speeds.
- An AI fourth official remains present in supported offline matches, moves naturally and gestures at coaches who leave their technical area.
- Injury substitutions are announced in advance, with shirt numbers on the substitution board and hints when playing without VR.
- The AI referee can point sent-off players towards the dressing-room tunnel.
More immersion and better controls
- Nearby spectators can use fully animated 3D characters on supported PCs, depending on your graphics settings.
- New classic football.
- New separate crowd volume setting.
- New foot size option in VR Expert Mode to make striking the ball easier.
- More first-person VR roles include a visible body, translucent arms and more natural footsteps.
- Expanded Steam Deck and controller navigation in panels, galleries and shops. The Start button now pauses the match.
- New controller inputs for VAR zoom, goal sharing and sharing panels.
- Improved the position of the paper plane beside the Chaos Lab tablet.
- Voice commands are disabled by default on new installations.
We have also polished the match
Alongside the new features, this update includes numerous fixes. Here are the main areas:
- Refereeing and scoring: fixes to foul and card attribution, offside calls, advantage, send-offs and VAR decision reviews.
- AI and match flow: resolved teams missing a goalkeeper, stuck players and dressing-room tunnel blocks, plus adjustments to corners and dropped balls.
- Animation and presentation: fixes to substitutes, replays, portraits, ball effects, scoreboards and the VAR monitor.
- Photography: disallowed goals no longer generate incorrect front pages or celebration assignments; assignments, position markers and background photographers have also been fixed.
- Interface and connection: improvements to sharing panels, menus, controller and mouse input, and Discord reconnection.
Choose your role. Share the match. Thank you for playing and helping us improve Motion Soccer PRO. See you in the stadium!
