Update 0.9.1.0 - Backpack upgrades, improved stealth and AI and more!
Greetings, survivors. This update brings a brand new backpack upgrade system so you can carry much more loot on your journeys. We have also made massive improvements to how enemies detect you - they now hunt by sound and will easily spot your torch light in the dark. On top of that, we have tweaked stealth to feel much more realistic and packed in a large batch of fixes for weapons, inventories, and quickslots.
New Features
- You can now upgrade your backpack to expand your inventory space - more loot, more fun!
- Sneaking is no longer just about staying out of sight! Enemies can now detect you by the sounds you make, making stealth much more engaging.
- Be careful in the dark! Enemies will now easily spot you if you are carrying a lit torch, giving away your position.
- Your visual detection range is now shorter while sneaking, making it easier to hide. However, if you end up touching an enemy, they will spot you instantly.
Enemy AI & World Changes
- Enemies will actively respond if one of their allies is killed nearby. An eye for an eye.
- Enemies now sprint back to their territory faster after giving up on a chase, and will seek out the nearest target when their current attack routine ends.
- Enemies will throw rocks less often, no longer awkwardly slide to a stop, and will not flicker between spotting you and losing you when you stand on the edge of their territory.
- We increased the size of enemy spawn and despawn areas, so they appear and disappear much more naturally in the world.
- Non-player characters now use better viewing habits and behaviors when investigating suspicious activity.
- Traders will now only appear when no players are nearby to prevent them from suddenly popping onto your screen, and their status is now perfectly synced in multiplayer.
Gameplay & Quality of Life
- You can now pick your active quickslot directly from the Equipment view, and the selection highlight is much easier to see at a glance.
- Inventory lists have been expanded to display more items at once. We also swapped the deposit and withdraw buttons to match the order most players naturally expect.
- Smoothed out the animations when using fast travel - our pigs just got a power-up.
- The countdown timer for raids will now always begin at 9 AM in-game.
- Updated various item names and descriptions across the game for better clarity.
Bug Fixes
Weapons & Combat
- Fixed issues with how spears are gripped and wielded for both male and female characters. This includes fixing a bug where rapidly aiming and releasing would break the character's hand grip.
- Fixed shield positioning on female characters.
Inventory & UI
- Fixed the player's death bag (dropped loot) not appearing on the minimap.
- Fixed several bugs with quickslots, including incorrect numbering and drag-and-drop issues.
- Fixed displaced and misaligned visual elements inside the inventory screen.
World & Multiplayer
- Synced the player's coughing animation during the plague wind so it properly shows for everyone in multiplayer.
- Fixed an issue where resources that had just respawned were invisible to your villagers.
- Fixed the Village Manager interface freezing or getting stuck when opening it on a fresh save file.
- Removed the broken "change villager name" button from the village info viewer.
- Fixed a bug where the player's bed and traveler's tent would show an incorrect "blocked" message during the plague wind.
- Fixed the material and textures on the Plague Doctor hat.
