August 2026 - Dev Log
Hi All,
Just a quick post to keep you all up to date with the current state of affairs for No Witnesses, a little peak behind the curtain of what's been going on behind the scenes.
Release Date Announcement
We've set our official release date for No Witnesses, the game will be released on: Oct 29, 2026 3:00 PM GMT
Release Updates
We've had a bit of back-and-forth thinking about whether launching in Early Access or not is the right thing for No Witnesses. When we made the decision to release in Early Access we were intending to release the game mid-August and using the 6 month period of Early Access to really focus on player feedback and update the game.
We no longer feel like this is the right decision. After reflection, and pushing the release date back to participate in Steam Next Fest 2026 it's given us time to do extra development, testing, playtests & really round off the product.
On the release date in October it will be the full release of No Witnesses. We will of course continue to work on the game and updating from community feedback, but there will be no big hoo-haa of a release after this date.
Development Updates
We have both been working super hard in the background getting No Witnesses ready for it's first public demo to go live ahead of Next Fest. Here's a small note of what we've updated recently responding to feedback:
- Complete overhaul of the weapon system & tools used to tune the weapons
- Shotguns now have proper spread and work like an actual shotgun
- The weapons no longer aggressively recoil and take over your screen while ADS
- All weapons are undergoing a full re-tune ahead of the demo release
Misc. UI updates across the majority of the UI cleaning it up
Fixed the shop/escape menu getting stuck on your screen when you die/round ends
Created the Workshop map creator Unreal Engine project, this will be distributed once the full game has released so community members can make their own maps
Created 'OVERTIME' at the end of the round if there is only 1 killer and 1 innocent alive, keeping games alive and chaotic until the very last minute
- If you've been in 'OVERTIME' for 1 minute, the other player will start to flash between walls so you're drawn together to fight rather than hide away and make the round last forever
Introduced a frames per second limit in the settings
Improved the backend analytics for error handling and pre-emptive bug fixing
- We still really thrive on feedback submitted via our website: https://www.pinkthorngames.com/
Marketing Updates
We've started the marketing push ahead of Steam Next Fest 2026 by sending out Press & Creator codes for early access to the game. Specifically we've targetted our marketing towards our favourite streamers and smaller creators who we think will really enjoy the game from the kinds of content they create.
If you're a press representative or content creator that hasn't been invited, please do not take it personally just reach out to us via press@pinkthorngames.com and we'll hook you up.
GamesAid 2026 First Place!
We took part in the Snappy Gurus x GamesAid careers week 'While We Play' indie game competition and took 1st place! We're really over the moon with the win here and we can't thank both Snappy Gurus and GamesAid enough for organising such an incredible event, and to the judges for believing in our project. Congratulations to all the other talented indie developers who took part - the talent on display was truly inspiring!
