Co-op Update: tidy the town together
By popular demand, we moved co-op up a little: it's here a day early.
Nothing Belongs Here now has online co-op. Bring up to three friends into your town and tidy it together. Playing alone? Everything you had is still there, and two upgrades got easier to read (see below).
Your town, your friends
Co-op plays in the host's town. Open the CO-OP lobby from the main menu and bring friends in through Steam: send them an invite, they join you from their friends list, or you share your room's six-letter code and they type it in. With a code, they don't even need to be on your friends list. Everyone picks a character first: 18 outfits (three from each world), 10 hairs and 10 hats.
One town, shared
- One heap, one purse and one upgrade board for everybody.
- The mini game abilities are shared too.
- Steam achievements unlock for everyone in the session.
The Co-op Trail
A new gate in the rim behind the Sci-Fi Lab opens onto a valley between the mountains. The gate stays barred when you play alone; in a session, the trail leads to three games that take two.
The Pileup
At the start of the trail stands a hollow tower of giant things from the six worlds, 34 metres tall. Its door opens only while two players stand on its two plates. Inside, one of you holds a world's tile on the floor so the other's steps appear. At the very top, a chest with two locks pays out a jackpot.
New co-op mini game: Moving Day
Some belongings are too big for one pair of hands. On the plain along the trail a giant wizard's staff lies on two books: take an end each and carry it to its stand. Walk too far apart, or let go, and down it goes.
New co-op mini game: The Seesaw
At the far end of the trail, giant books balance on giant books. One of you stands on the low end, the other jumps onto the high end, and up goes the first. Two seesaws and a stair of books later you are both at the summit, where a chest with two locks waits.
Emotes
Hold T (Y on a gamepad) for the emote wheel: wave, point, thumbs up, clap, dance and laugh. Point leaves a marker everyone can see, for when "no, THAT shelf" needs no words.
Bonk
Throw something at a friend and it knocks them back. No damage, just a bonk.
For everyone: sight upgrades you can read
You told us Matching Eye and Shelf Sight were hard to understand. They no longer tint things green:
- Matching Eye puts a small eye badge over every loose match of what you're holding.
- Shelf Sight raises a golden beam over the shelf your item belongs on and shows a ghost of it in its exact spot. A marker on screen points the way, even when the shelf is behind you.
The Sci-Fi Lab's power core also stands out in the heap now.
Thank you for playing since launch. Grab a friend, and happy tidying.
