Notmads development update: what I’m working on

As mentioned in the recent minor updates, I’ve been working on 0.7.0 since August, alongside the 0.6.X fixes and improvements. My focus is now on 0.7.0, with no further 0.6.X updates planned unless a major issue comes up.

0.7.0 and the first island

This update still needs some time, especially as new art is being worked on for it. It will bring the main quest storyline through to the end of the first island, so there’s quite a bit going into it!

I’m also planning a small combat rework. Since this involves some bigger changes, I want to introduce it with 0.7.0, though some improvements may follow during 0.7.X.

The updates after 0.7.0 should arrive more frequently, adding more content, side quests, and fixes as needed. Before starting on 0.8.0, the goal is to have a stable 0.7.X with all the first island’s content in place and more polished combat.

Looking ahead to 0.8.0

As shown in the roadmap, the main focus of 0.8.0 will be bringing the building system into its final shape, improving building parts, controls, and the overall experience. General improvements will continue too.

A weekend with players

Last weekend I took Notmads to an indie game festival, probably its last until 1.0! It was a great experience watching people of different ages and playstyles try the game. Seeing how they approached it and where they struggled helped me organise the next improvements, especially for combat.
