Octbuster: Video Rental Store Cleanup

Build v0.99.2 - Motion sickness mode and Checkout area!

Alex

By request, this patch adds a motion sickness mode based on the one PowerWash Simulator uses. I did a lot of research on this, and there's no universal fix for motion sickness, so let me know how it feels if you try it. I'm hoping that between this and the other accessibility options, you can find something that's comfy for you!

The checkout counter also got rebuilt, thanks to my friend who has been grinding on it while I focus on other parts of the game. (Thank you Marie for all the help!)

Motion sickness mode

  • New Motion sickness mode in Settings > Accessibility, also on the New Game screen. Off by default.
  • The camera stays still and you aim with a cursor. Everything you do happens where the cursor is.
  • The view turns when you push the cursor past the edge of the screen, or while you hold the look key (C or the mouse back button by default).
  • Camera turns sets how: Edge push, Edge band (keeps turning while the cursor rests near the edge), Hold key only, or Edge push + hold key, which is the default. On a gamepad the view turns at the edge only.
  • Cursor speed sets how fast the cursor moves with the mouse or a stick.
  • The reticle, the held tape's title and kitten name tags follow the cursor. The reticle always shows while the mode is on.
  • Look sensitivity and inverted look only apply while you hold the look key.

Tutorial

  • The opening now has you pull tapes out of the cart for the first time. Only the filtered genre comes out. Then you toss them back in.
  • After Looky paints the ABCs on the shelf, it waves and all the titles come back at once, instead of walking the row a second time.

Checkout counter

  • The checkout counter has been rebuilt, with new display cases, LED strips and a new Octbuster sign designed and donated by Monty. You may have noticed his other amazing fan art submissions, he is such a talented and creative graphic designer. Thanks again Monty!<3
  • The sign and the LED strips join in when a party starts.
  • A spinning keychain rack by the register gets a keychain for every plush you've unlocked.
  • Reduce Flashing & Motion stops the rack from spinning.

Have fun! -alex
