Build 4.5: graphics choices, clearer menus and battlefield fixes

Selman Demiray

Update 1.3.0 - Build 4.5

Minor update: Graphics choices, clearer menus and battlefield fixes

Build 4.5 adds graphics and camera choices, clearer menus and capture controls, improves unit controls and battlefield information, and continues work on performance and stability.

Graphics options and performance

  • Auto graphics quality selects a full Low, Medium, High or Ultra preset for your PC. You can also choose a preset yourself.
  • Options explain which changes apply in the next battle and which require restarting the game.
  • Added frame-rate limits of 90, 120 and 144 FPS, plus Match Monitor.
  • Refinements to distant-view and shadow performance on supported graphics hardware, plus aircraft-trail performance work.
  • Further work to reduce the pause and slowdown after the first nuclear strike in a large battle. The remaining hitch is listed below.

Menus, Archive and capture controls

  • Menu buttons show clearer hover, press, keyboard-focus and unavailable states, with improved keyboard navigation.
  • Options, Archive and About pages scroll more reliably, making the first and last rows easier to reach.
  • Pause controls show their current settings when opened. Intelligence-sharing controls and unit-card page buttons have clearer feedback.
  • Unfinished battles in the Archive now include elapsed time up to leaving the battlefield, including time after the last order. Completed battles keep their result time.
  • Enable Hide Interface Key in Options to use F11 for screenshots and videos in solo battles and replays. It hides and restores HUD panels and replay/tracking banners. The option starts off, does nothing online or while typing, and keeps unit markers and selection/follow rings visible.

Camera and unit control

  • Added a Camera section with settings for pan and zoom speed, edge scrolling, inverted free-look tilt, and Flat or Ground zoom landing. Choose Ground to zoom toward the terrain under the cursor; Flat remains the default.
  • Edge scrolling now starts more gradually.
  • Pressing R to cycle through an infantry transport no longer also tilts the camera.
  • Move and attack orders receive a short radio acknowledgement. Ground vehicles give a small visual response to those orders, and nearby impacts can rock them and kick up dust.
  • Press T with FPV drones or other one-way munitions selected to arm a strike run, then click the target.
  • Deployment clicks report a full army immediately and count accepted purchases. Inbound units are no longer reported as already arrived, and messages from the previous battle are cleared. Some arrival and strike messages still need work.

Aircraft and allied commanders

  • Corrected how wind affects aircraft flight. Aircraft altitude levels stay in order over hills, and a climb order no longer starts with a descent.
  • Allied AI commanders leave room for the human player's army, and the army counter shows that player's slots. You have 64 slots when you are the only human on your side, even in a 100 vs 100 battle. With several human commanders, the available reserve is shared.

Visuals and text

  • Unit and contact plates stay beneath the HUD. Selection rings are clearer on grass, slopes and through cover.
  • Order lines and selection indicators have clearer, more consistent rendering. Some aiming-marker shimmer remains.
  • Identity symbols switch between units and their plates without showing duplicate symbols.
  • Unit plates no longer freeze on screen when a unit leaves view or a unit portrait appears. Groups of plates change size more gradually when zooming.
  • Distant clouds are steadier, and cloud layers follow aircraft altitude levels. Repeating cloud appearance is still being investigated.
  • Names and chat now support accented Latin letters, Greek and Cyrillic. Other scripts remain unsupported, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Thai.

Loading, cleanup and protection

  • When a required graphics-loading failure is detected, ORDNIX keeps the incomplete battlefield hidden and closes the game.
  • Improved failure reporting and cleanup when leaving a match.
  • Further fair-play protection hardening.
  • Added extra safeguards when loading game assets.

Ranked Season 0

  • The schedule is unchanged: Ranked Season 0 opens on October 23, 2026 at 21:00 UTC and ends on December 18, 2026 at 21:00 UTC. Ranked remains Windows-only.

Compatibility

  • Everyone in a multiplayer battle must update to Build 4.5 and restart ORDNIX. Finish battles before updating. Build 4.1 and earlier replays cannot be played in Build 4.5. Windows-Linux multiplayer and older-battle compatibility have not been verified for this update.

Verified

  • On the RTX 3080 test PC, a limited check of a pre-release test build confirmed battlefield entry, FOB placement, reconnaissance deployment and selection, a move order with visible movement, and return to the main menu. This was not a check of the final packaged update. At the time these notes were prepared, exact-package Windows and native Linux checks, a full playthrough, every map and graphics preset, Windows-Linux online play, and final-package performance comparisons had not been completed. No final frame-rate improvement or performance comparison with public Build 4.1 is claimed here.

Known issues

  • Large battles, dense forests and far zoom can still have low or uneven frame rates. Final measurements for Low, Medium, High and Ultra are not complete.
  • Linux match-start waits, crashes, long first loads and far-zoom freezes remain under investigation. The loading and cleanup changes do not establish that these problems are fixed.
  • The first nuclear strike in a 100 vs 100 battle can still cause a hitch and a period of reduced frame rate.
  • Some distant clouds still appear repetitive.
  • Some rockets and the lingering smoke after nuclear strikes can still flicker. We are investigating.
  • The new Auto recommendation does not guarantee a particular frame rate in every view. Final menu, manual-choice and persistence checks are still in progress.
  • Some transport animations still clip, including weapons poking through trucks when infantry board. Vehicles can still drive very close to enemies before stopping.
  • Where unit icons overlap at far zoom, which one appears on top can change between battles. Some contact plate and aircraft trail cases are still being checked.
  • Idle tanks parked directly behind friendly tanks may wait for a clear line of fire. Position them side by side or give them an order.
  • AI trench lines remain weaker than in Build 4: squads walk to their trenches and may not arrive in heavy fighting.
  • Rejoin Battle can remain visible after the last human commander leaves a private battle that cannot be resumed.
  • Carrier launches work, but a complete return, refuel and rearm cycle has not been verified live. Arrested landings are not included.
  • Steam accounts sharing one computer user account also share local career and achievement data. Scripts other than supported Latin, Greek and Cyrillic still may not display.
  • Some replay issues remain under investigation. Final saving, loading and Steam overlay checks are pending.
  • At large interface scales, career and version details may need scrolling. Some combat notifications can overlap other banners or the controls-hint strip.
  • NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 3.1 upscaling are not included in this Windows and native Linux release.
  • Some NVIDIA systems can record an ORDNIX failure after the game has closed. The exit-time driver issue remains unresolved.
  • Steam Deck, Valve Proton, online play through Proton, and native Linux on AMD or Intel graphics have not been verified. The Mac version is not part of this release.
  • Final Windows-Linux online checks and Linux Steam-installed launch checks are still pending. Ranked remains Windows-only.
  • Windows performance on 6 GB graphics cards, older Linux X11 desktops and lower-spec PCs has not been verified for this candidate.
  • If there is not enough video memory for the far-view optimization, it is unavailable for that session.
