Armored Patrol Train Incoming! Heavy Artillery, Downed Rescues, New Wrecks to Explore, and a Revamped Volcano Railway
Dear Conductors,
New challenges await along the rails! The Snowfield Armored Patrol Train has arrived, while the Desert Bandit Train gains improved crew animations and close combat. Suppress crew members and destroy key components to weaken enemy movement and firepower. Defeat the guards, and you can operate captured cannons and machine guns yourself.
Want heavier firepower for your own train? The new Heavy Artillery technology pack in tier-three blueprints unlocks the Cannon, Black Cannonball, and Incendiary Shell. Multiplayer adventures also gain a new rescue opportunity: the downed rescue system lets teammates carry fallen companions to beds or sleeping bags for treatment.
For explorers, a train wreck on a frozen lake and a cargo plane wreck in the mountain forests await. The volcano railway and surrounding terrain have also been reworked for smoother transitions between mountainside travel, airborne sections, and mining stops on foot.
This update also removes the orbital fleet size limit, improves space transport and automatic gathering, reduces the game's disk usage by about 16%, and fixes resource consumption while paused, fuel saving, and several multiplayer item issues.
Pack your weapons and supplies, and set off on a new journey with your friends!
New Enemy Train: The Snowfield Armored Patrol Train!
A new patrol force has appeared in the snowfields.
This four-car armored train consists of a locomotive, cannon car, hand-cranked machine gun car, and cargo hold. Equipped with makeshift muskets, cannons, and a cartoon-style hand-cranked machine gun, it brings new combat challenges to your travels.
From Patrol to Battle
The patrol train travels along its own dedicated tracks.
It sounds a warning horn when approaching a player train, then opens fire with cannons and machine guns upon entering the combat zone. Once the battle ends, it resumes its patrol.
When you hear the warning, watch the nearby tracks and enemy firepower.
A Role for Every Crew Member
Drivers, gunners, loaders, machine gunners, and guards each have their own work and combat animations.
Crew members leave their posts to fight approaching players, while guards defend with makeshift muskets. Watch both the mounted weapons and nearby crew when closing in.
Choose Your Targets
Attack crew members or destroy key components such as the locomotive, cannon, and machine gun to weaken the patrol train's mobility and firepower.
Disabling the loaders also disrupts the enemy's firing rhythm. Picking the right targets can create more opportunities for you and your teammates.
Capture and Loot
Defeat all guards to operate any intact cannons and machine guns and loot supplies from the fourth car's cargo hold.
New Heavy Artillery Technology Pack
Tier-three blueprints now include the Heavy Artillery technology pack, unlocking:
- Cannon
- Black Cannonball
- Incendiary Shell
Equip your train with heavy artillery to face more dangerous enemies along the route.
Cannon Controls
Default controls:
- E: Operate the cannon and control its rotation and elevation.
- R: Load ammunition.
- F while operating: Switch ammunition type.
- Left mouse button: Fire.
Two Ammunition Types, Different Effects
Standard cannonballs explode on impact.
Incendiary shells leave a persistent burning area and set enemies alight. Choose your ammunition to suit the battle.
Bonus Fun: Launch Yourself!
Face a cannon and press F to climb inside in first person, complete with a comical seated pose.
Then either you or a friend can launch you!
Your character will fly out of the barrel. Watch your landing spot and beware of fall damage.
Multiplayer Downed Rescue System
Adventures with friends now offer another chance to save a teammate.
Single-player deaths remain immediate; in multiplayer, players first enter a downed state.
Crawl While Downed
When downed, your health bar turns bright amber, starting at 100 and draining over 60 seconds.
You can crawl slowly during this time, but further attacks hasten death. Call your teammates quickly and find a suitable rescue spot.
Animal Targeting Adjustments
Animals prioritize players within range who can still move normally.
Stay alert to nearby enemies during rescues, and plan cover and a retreat.
Carry Teammates to Bed for Treatment
Teammates can pick up downed players and carry them to a sleeping bag or bed for treatment.
While carrying someone:
- You cannot run.
- You can still jump.
Preparing resting places on your train ahead of time can help in an emergency rescue.
Recovery After Rescue
Rescued players enter a sleeping state and can get up by pressing a key.
Being rescued will:
- Restore 20 health.
- Ensure food and hydration are at least 25.
Replenish your condition after getting up before deciding whether to return to battle.
New Snowfield Exploration Site: Train Wreck
An abandoned freight train lies trapped in ice and snow on the frozen lake in the upper-left corner of the map.
Climb onto the damaged cars and search the remaining cargo crates for supplies to discover what this stranded train left behind.
A dedicated map marker makes it easier to find and revisit.
We will leave the rest unspoiled. Bring supplies and see it for yourself!
New Mountain Forest Exploration Site: Cargo Plane Wreck
A crashed cargo plane lies quietly among the mountains in the forests at the upper-right corner of the map.
Enter the damaged cargo hold, search the abandoned crates for supplies, and explore this new wreck site.
Map and Record Board Guidance
The cargo plane wreck has its own map marker.
A new record board beside the snowfield railway reveals the wreck's location when read. The board also has a map icon to help you find it.
Find the French Orange Duck Recipe
A treasure chest awaits inside the plane.
If you have not unlocked it yet, you will also receive the French Orange Duck recipe. Once learned, the recipe no longer drops.
We will leave the other details for you to discover, Conductors!
New Equipment: Hide Shoes
Hide Shoes, crafted from animal hides and bones, are now available.
They provide armor protection and reduce fall damage by 30% while equipped and unbroken.
Bring extra protection when exploring heights and wrecks. Remember to check your equipment before setting off!
Desert Bandit Train Combat Upgrade
The Desert Bandit Train gains improved crew animations, close combat, and reactions at crew posts, adding variety to boarding battles.
More Complete Crew Work Animations
Handcar operators work their levers, while gunners now fetch and load ammunition, making preparations for movement and cannon fire clearer.
Bandits Gain Close Combat
Bandits watch for approaching players and fight with the same large machete available to players.
Their swings have a wind-up you can avoid by retreating or keeping your distance. Watch their movements for a chance to counterattack.
Hit Reactions and Leaving Posts
Attacking bandits interrupts their actions.
They return to their posts when players retreat far enough. Forcing crew away can disrupt movement or cannon fire and create an opening.
Capture the Cannon
Defeat every guard aboard to operate the cannon, aiming, firing, and reloading it yourself.
Capture Enemy Mounted Weapons
After defeating all guards on the corresponding train, you can use its intact mounted weapons.
Default controls:
- E: Operate or exit.
- Left mouse button: Fire.
- R: Reload.
If you have changed your key bindings, follow the in-game prompts.
Ammunition Requirements
- Each cannon reload consumes cannon ammunition.
- Hand-cranked machine guns use musket ammunition.
Bring suitable ammunition when preparing to board, so you can try captured weapons after winning.
Train Respawn
The train group respawns 1 hour after players leave the area.
Recipe Reward After Battle
After defeating the Bandit Train, you can loot the Amber Rings drink recipe from the rear car. Remember to check the spoils!
Volcano Mountainside Railway Revamp
The volcano railway and nearby terrain have been reworked for more natural transitions between mountainside travel, airborne sections, and exploration on foot.
Tracks Winding Around the Mountain
The railway follows the volcano's contours, connecting slopes and rock faces at different elevations.
Enjoy more angles of the volcano, lava, and surrounding scenery as the route's elevation and environment change.
Distinct Airborne Sections
Some sections extend away from the mountain as balloon-supported aerial tracks.
These sections now have more closely spaced balloon supports for a more even distribution and a more striking airborne landscape.
Mountainside Tracks Make Mining Easier
Tracks near the mountain have been brought closer to slopes and rock faces, with improved paths on the adjoining platforms.
After stopping and disembarking, you can more easily approach the mountainside and explore nearby mineral deposits.
More Cohesive Support Placement
Mountainside sections use lateral supports attached to the rock, while truly suspended sections use balloons.
The proportions and positions of mountainside platforms have also been adjusted for more natural connections between tracks, supports, and cliffs.
Smooth Descent to Ground Level
Balloon platforms at the lower exit have been removed, the surrounding slopes reshaped, and continuous ground support added beneath the tracks.
The railway now transitions gradually from the mountainside to ground level, joining the tracks at the foot of the mountain naturally.
Improved Volcano Atmosphere
As you enter the volcano area, distant scenery gradually fills with dark red mist, with visibility set to about 300 meters.
The atmosphere returns naturally as you leave, creating more consistent visual transitions between regions.
New Bread Trade at the Mill Merchant
The mill merchant offers a new exchange:
2 Flour → 1 Toast
Bring flour to the mill and trade for bread as needed to replenish food for your travels.
Orbital Fleet Size Limit Removed
The previous orbital fleet cap is gone. Keep expanding your mining and support forces and assign tasks in batches.
A larger fleet gives you more flexibility in arranging work across different mineral deposits.
Clearer Rocket Launch Failure Messages
Improved launch failure messages now clearly distinguish between:
- Duplicate launches.
- Invalid rocket data.
This makes the situation easier to identify and reduces confusion from similar messages for different problems.
Expired Mineral Deposit Refresh Fix
Fixed some expired deposits getting stuck at 00:00 and failing to refresh after all rockets entered standby.
Already mined minerals are preserved. If Space Storage was full, they will be added automatically once you free up space.
Discard Items from Space Storage and the Outgoing Section
You can now discard items in Space Storage and items awaiting shipment to clear unwanted supplies.
How to use:
- Drag an item out of the inventory.
- Check the item name and quantity in the prompt.
- Select Yes to discard it.
- Select No to keep it.
Discarded items cannot be recovered. Check the name and quantity before confirming.
Cargo Loading Fix During Ongoing Mining
Fixed items snapping back to their original slots instead of entering the Outgoing section when dragged there during ongoing mining.
Adding supplies to the Outgoing section while organizing shipments is now more reliable.
More Stable Launches and Assignments for Large Fleets
Fixed rocket launches unexpectedly stopping and then reporting that the rocket was already registered.
Also improved synchronization and batch assignment stability when many fleet records exist, making large fleet scheduling more reliable.
Smoother Space Storage and Transport Operations
Improved Space Storage performance when:
- Loading outgoing cargo.
- Dispatching transport tasks.
- Continuously receiving mining output.
- Frequently moving items.
- Landing pads are full and waiting to unload.
Reduced stuttering in these situations for smoother ongoing mining and transport management.
Faster Turning for Electrically Upgraded Auto-Gatherers
Electrically upgraded Automatic Drills and Automatic Grappling Hooks now turn twice as fast to aim at targets sooner.
Less waiting for devices to turn after detecting a target makes automatic gathering along the route more responsive.
↘ Better Low-Target Collection for Automatic Devices
Improved the collection angles of Automatic Drills and Automatic Grappling Hooks for resources below them.
Fixed targets too close to directly beneath a device being unselectable, improving collection of nearby low resources.
Automatic Grappling Hooks Pause When Full
Fixed Automatic Grappling Hooks continuing to grab resources and dropping them outside when storage space was insufficient.
Now they:
- Pause when there is not enough space.
- Resume automatically once space is available.
This reduces resource piles around devices and avoids ineffective gathering while storage is full.
Resource Consumption Fix While Paused in Single Player
Fixed electricity, fuel, and food continuing to deplete with the pause menu or settings open in single player.
These resource states now pause correctly, so you can check settings or step away with peace of mind.
Remaining Fuel Burn Time Save Fix
Fixed remaining fuel burn time being lost when reopening a save.
Resuming play now correctly restores the saved remaining burn time, reducing fuel progress errors.
More Accurate Power Saving
Improved the accuracy of saved device power levels, restoring them more faithfully when resuming and reducing discrepancies between saving and loading.
Multiplayer Transfer Return Fix
Fixed error recovery during multiplayer item transfers sometimes returning items repeatedly and spawning duplicate dropped bags.
Failed operations now return items more accurately, reducing duplicates and abnormal dropped bags.
Reduced Train Clipping Across Multiple Railway Sections
Adjusted many areas prone to train clipping and relaid the affected tracks.
Improved track alignment with surrounding terrain and clearance, greatly reducing clipping on affected stretches for more stable travel.
Game Install Size Reduced by About 16%
Optimized the installation to use about 16% less disk space.
Also reduced unnecessary asset downloads in future minor updates, making installation and routine updates lighter.
