Major Update: Fishing Overhaul, Automatic Drills and Auto Supply Boxes Arrive

Dear train conductors,

This update overhauls fishing with bait, tackle accessories, and a brand-new reeling mechanic. It also introduces Auto Supply Boxes, Automatic Drills, and Bamboo Saplings.

We've also continued improving multiplayer, acid rain, the Bandit Leader, animal farming, inventory management, Steam Deck support, technology blueprints, the save system, and multilingual text display.

Acid Rain and Weather Improvements

Fixed an issue where acid rain only damaged the host in multiplayer.

Now:

Both the host and players joining the session are properly affected by acid rain Acid rain appears as green raindrops and green splashes Players can distinguish normal rain from acid rain more quickly and find shelter in time

Rain duration changes:

Each rain cycle has been shortened from 3 minutes to 2 minutes

Animal Farming Improvements

Chickens, ducks, and geese in the coop now have more natural animations, with fewer animals performing exactly the same movement at the same time.

Sound adjustments:

Chickens, ducks, and geese call less frequently Poultry calls have a shorter audible range Poultry calls can no longer be heard more than 10 meters from the coop Animals in animal pens call less frequently Sounds from animal pens no longer travel beyond 10 meters

Box of Eggs Improvements

The item previously named "Chicken Egg Box" has been renamed "Box of Eggs".

Opening it gives you a chance to receive:

Chicken Eggs ×2 Duck Eggs ×2 Goose Eggs ×2

Bandit Shop changes:

Duck Eggs are no longer sold directly Goose Eggs are no longer sold directly You can sell Chicken Eggs, Duck Eggs, and Goose Eggs Every 10 eggs can be exchanged for 1 Oxygen Coin

Combat and Bandit Leader Improvements

Fixed an issue where only the host could see the Bandit Leader in multiplayer.

All players can now correctly see:

The Bandit Leader The boss's animations Its attack state The boss's state after defeat

Also fixed:

The Bandit Leader remaining on the ground after being defeated instead of disappearing properly The red hit marker sometimes remaining on screen after an attack connects

Arrows that hit an enemy now have a chance to immobilize it and interrupt its current action.

This effect applies to:

Regular enemies Bosses such as the Bandit Leader

Damage over time from Poison Arrows no longer repeatedly interrupts enemy actions.

Codex Information Improvements

When you select an unlocked recipe or drink in the codex, you can now see its stat changes above the item description.

Displayed stats include:

Food Hydration level Health points Oxygen Contaminated Water Sickness

The Collection Codex has also moved within the technology tree:

Previously in Tier 3 Now in Tier 2

Players can check their collection totals and discoveries earlier.

New Technology: Auto Supply Box

Added a new facility: the Auto Supply Box.

When performing the following actions while standing on the train:

Construction Crafting Upgrading Repairing

Materials in your inventory are used first.

If you don't have enough materials with you, the required materials are automatically taken from Auto Supply Boxes.

Multiple Auto Supply Boxes can supply materials together, reducing the need to keep moving building materials into your inventory.

New Bamboo Sapling

Added a new item: the Bamboo Sapling.

How to use it:

Plant it in a Tree Planter Chop it down once mature to obtain bamboo Wild bamboo also has a chance to drop Bamboo Saplings

Also fixed incorrect talent-related drops from bamboo.

When chopping bamboo on the map or on the train:

The fruit talent no longer causes bamboo to drop apples, peaches, or oranges Bonuses to the amount of bamboo gathered still apply as normal

New Automatic Drill

Added a new machine: the Automatic Drill.

Once wound up, the Automatic Drill automatically fires drill bits to mine nearby mineral resources.

It can mine:

Stone Iron Ore Copper Ore Gold Ore Uranium Ore Diamond Ore Other gatherable minerals

Features:

Mining damage per hit matches the Iron Pickaxe Base gathering yield matches the Iron Pickaxe After hitting a mineral deposit, the drill bit brings the resources back to the machine Gathered resources are automatically placed in the machine's storage Multiple drills can mine the same mineral deposit together

Storage capacity:

A 3×3 grid 9 slots in total

The Automatic Drill is available in Tier 2 technology blueprints.

Also fixed:

Automatic Drills continuing to work during the placement preview Automatic Grappling Hooks continuing to work during the placement preview

Machines now pause while being moved and resume once placed.

Complete Fishing Overhaul

This update adds a new reeling mechanic, a bait system, and tackle accessories to fishing.

New Reeling Mechanic

When the float sinks, click promptly to lift the fishing rod and hook the fish.

After lifting the fishing rod:

Hold the action button to pull the fish to the right Release the action button to ease line tension Pull the fish all the way to the right end of the progress bar to catch it If the fish retreats to the far left, it escapes The fish also escapes if line tension gets too high and the line snaps

The question-mark fish icon remains, so the fish's species is not revealed in advance.

Rare Fish Challenge Adjustments

Fishing difficulty is no longer determined by the fish's weight.

Now:

The rarer the fish, the stronger its sustained backward pull Rare fish struggle more noticeably Higher-tier rods provide more stable line control Lower-tier rods start shaking and become unstable sooner

Customize Your Tackle

Different fishing rods have different numbers of accessory slots:

Fine Fishing Rod: 2 accessory slots Alloy Fishing Rod: 4 accessory slots Makeshift Fishing Rod: supports bait, but not accessories

Open the fishing rod's details to:

Drag accessories into the appropriate slots Drag bait into the bait slot Drag accessories back to your inventory to remove them Drag bait back to your inventory to take it out

Ten New Tackle Accessories

New accessories include:

Flashing Float: makes the float easier to spot Large Float: improves float visibility Quick Lure: shortens the wait for a bite Fish King Lure: increases the chance of encountering a Fish King Durability Guard: reduces wear on the fishing rod Shock-Absorbing Rig: reduces the impact of sudden dashes by the fish Endurance Rig: reduces the fish's sustained backward pull Heavy-Duty Rig: slows the buildup of line tension Stable Hook: extends the bite response window to 3 seconds Select Lure: increases the proportion of rare fish other than Fish Kings

Bait System

Higher-tier bait is more likely to attract rare fish other than Fish Kings.

You can still catch rare fish without equipping bait.

With bait equipped:

You won't catch junk such as stones or wood You still have a chance to obtain recipes Bait tier does not affect the chance of catching a Fish King The Select Lure does not affect the chance of catching a Fish King

Regular shops now permanently stock:

Professional Mixed Bait Base price: 10 Oxygen Coins

A new craftable item has been added to Tier 3 technology:

Standard Mixed Bait

Accessories lose durability with use and disappear automatically when their durability runs out.

Fishing rod inventory slots now show:

The type of bait currently equipped The amount of bait currently equipped

Players who prefer easier fishing controls can enable assisted line control in the settings.

Fishing Fixes

Fixed an issue where equipped accessories and bait could be lost when a fishing rod was stored in a chest.

Also improved the rules for returning items when there is not enough space, preventing leftover items from disappearing.

All fishing rod accessories now display the following in their item details:

A durability bar Current durability value Maximum durability

For example:

60/60

Fixed a "+" marker remaining in empty slots after switching chests or moving a fishing rod.

The same display issue in furnaces has also been fixed.

Display adjustments for non-fish catches:

River Shrimp River Mussels Starfish Seashells Conches Other non-fish items

These items now correctly display their stack count instead of incorrectly showing a weight in kilograms.

This change also applies automatically to existing items.

Fish still display their weight as usual.

Steam Deck and Controller Fishing Improvements

The fishing rod accessory system now supports controllers.

You can now use a controller to:

Select accessory slots Equip accessories Equip bait Remove accessories and return them to your inventory Return bait to your inventory

Also fixed an issue where bait stacks were split into incorrect quantities when players used a controller to equip bait.

Character and Animation Improvements

Fixed an issue where transferring a full stack from a storage chest with Shift + left-click unexpectedly switched the character from running to walking.

Animations for pushing friends have also been adjusted:

When pushing with empty hands:

The unnecessary hand-retraction animation no longer plays The character extends both hands directly to push

When holding a weapon or tool:

The current item is put away first The push animation plays The item is then taken out again

Improved hand animation transitions while holding items, reducing sudden jitter when:

Switching between running and walking Inventory items refresh Switching held items

Also fixed empty hands appearing when certain professions selected recipes, along with similar held-item display issues.

Multiplayer Inventory Dragging Improvements

Improved inventory dragging and item dropping in multiplayer.

Now:

Less repeated dragging is needed while items synchronize A message appears when an action takes longer to complete Canceling a drag no longer causes a previous drop action to execute later Canceled actions no longer continue after closing the inventory

Fixed an issue where some item quantities could revert to an earlier state when moving items in multiplayer.

Item Transfer Improvements

Fixed an issue where taking items from a furnace or chest with Ctrl + left-click used empty slots first.

Transfers now prioritize:

Merging with existing items of the same type Filling partially filled stacks

Any remaining items that do not fit stay in the original container.

Equipment Dragging Fixes

Fixed an incorrect "Item has changed" message when clicking or dragging an equipped Oxygen Mask.

Also fixed dragging regular equipment being interrupted by changes caused by:

Normal wear Continuous power consumption Automatic recharging

Train and Obstacle Fixes

Fixed an issue where the train could not start after being stopped by a track obstacle, even after changing direction.

Fixed players potentially being pushed out of carriages when the train traveled over uneven terrain at high speed.

Also improved stability for players sitting on stools.

Fixed camera shake affecting players outside the train and those in the second carriage or farther back when the train hit an obstacle.

Collision shake now only affects:

Players inside the first carriage

The same rules apply to the host and other multiplayer participants.

Control Console and Lighting Fixes

Fixed the control console potentially reverting from "No Speed Limit" to the fifth setting after leaving and re-entering the game.

The last selected speed limit setting is now correctly saved and restored.

Fixed manually switched-on lights unexpectedly turning off when re-entering the game or first loading a save.

Automatic lighting mode still resumes automatic control at the next day/night transition.

Electric Engine Synchronization Fixes

Fixed an issue where non-host players occasionally could not see smoke from a running Electric Engine in multiplayer.

All players can now correctly see the Electric Engine's operating state.

Player Appearance Fixes When Joining

Fixed the host or other players appearing late when you first joined a session.

Also fixed player characters sometimes slowly floating down from above after joining a session.

Players now appear in the correct position more quickly after joining a session.

Interface and Visual Improvements

Enlarged the password entry window used when joining a friend's session.

Improvements include:

Clearer text More appropriate button sizes Better display in small windows and at low resolutions

Reordered the left sidebar in the settings menu.

Fixed screen flickering that could occur when opening and closing the inventory.

Crafting interface improvements:

When no item is selected, the book frame retracts to the edge of the list on the left Selecting an item and displaying its details expands the book area to the right Removed the unnecessary inner background from the required materials area The materials list and crafting button retain their existing functionality

The Electric Grill now displays only the upper processing progress bar; the unnecessary lower fuel bar has been removed.

Fixed the equipment bar at the bottom appearing in front of the overlay when opening the Workbench.

Translucent Background Adjustments

Most screens that previously used blurred white background panels now use translucent black panels.

This change helps:

Reduce visual discomfort from bright backgrounds Reduce dizziness when switching screens Improve text readability

Addressing dizziness remains a high priority, and further adjustments are planned.

Fixed translucent black backgrounds unexpectedly disappearing from information panels for equipment such as the Advanced Oxygen Tank.

Text and Localization Improvements

Fixed garbled text, missing strokes, and incomplete text in technology unlock notifications, the fishing interface, and some other screens.

Improved:

Text stability when switching languages Text display when opening different screens Completeness of dynamically generated text

A total of 1483 localized text entries have been improved in this update.

Key areas include:

Fishing instructions Sleeping instructions Planting instructions Animal farming instructions Character traits Control hints Beginner tutorials

Also fixed some text appearing too narrow or with inconsistent character shapes.

This includes:

Copy Room Code Close Other commonly used interface text

Steam Deck and Controller Improvements

Added controller support for:

Camera mode The emote wheel Dropping items Playing musical instruments

Other improvements:

Improved camera responsiveness Reduced accidental inputs after changing button bindings Reduced unintended actions after leaving special modes Improved external display settings on Steam Deck Added control hints in multiple languages The B button can now revert changes in the resolution confirmation window Reverting changes keeps you on the settings screen Fixed idle controllers unexpectedly opening the on-screen keyboard Improved consistency when rotating building objects at different frame rates using the touchpad or mouse-emulating gyro controls Improved controller menu navigation Improved focus handling in pop-up windows Improved back navigation Reduced accidental map openings Reduced accidental screen closures Fixed the on-screen keyboard opening repeatedly Fixed movement button remapping not taking full effect Fixed incorrect save list display after canceling save deletion

Building and Upgrade Fixes

Fixed the old placement preview remaining after replacing the currently held placeable item with another item in the inventory.

Also fixed:

Incorrect held-item model display Incorrect left-click behavior The previous item's action state not clearing promptly

Fixed upgrades being possible without enough materials, or incorrectly showing as successful.

When materials are insufficient:

"Not enough materials" is displayed No materials are consumed The building keeps its current level

Fixed an issue that allowed players to craft the Simple Electric Lamp without enough materials.

Technology Blueprint Adjustments

After completing the Tier 1 stage core, the Tier 5 technology button now appears early but remains locked.

Clicking the Tier 5 technology button or the entrance to the right of Tier 4 displays:

Unlock the \[Electrical Technology] stage core first to gain access.

Once the requirement is met, the lock icon disappears automatically and Tier 5 technology becomes accessible.

Tier 1 technology changes:

Removed the unlock cost for Fiber Rope

Tier 4 technology changes:

Reduced the blueprint unlock requirements for "Basic Power Generation" Reduced the blueprint unlock requirements for "Music and Dyeing" Adjusted the blueprint unlock requirements for the Makeshift Circuit Board

These changes make technology progression more balanced.

Underwater Oxygen Fixes

Fixed several exploits in the underwater oxygen system.

Now:

The character's oxygen consumption multiplier is higher underwater The Oxygen Mask's consumption multiplier is higher underwater Character oxygen cannot be replenished underwater Rainforest oxygen supply does not replenish oxygen underwater Nearby oxygen equipment does not replenish oxygen underwater

While the Oxygen Mask still has oxygen remaining:

The character's current oxygen level is maintained The mask's reserves are consumed first

Once the mask runs out:

The character's own oxygen starts being consumed

Normal oxygen replenishment rules resume after leaving the water.

Map and Merchant Fixes

Patched several gaps in walls and foundations in Oxygen Town to prevent players from entering hollow spaces inside buildings.

The town's existing layout and architectural style have been preserved.

Added a map table to the snowy region:

Reading it reveals the Bandit Camp This ensures players can find out where the Bandit Camp is

Added new supply restocks to the snowy region's Bandit Shop, reducing instances where no supplies are available.

Oxygen Town merchant behavior improvements:

Merchants walk slowly near their original positions They pause for longer This makes them easier to find and trade with Fixed merchants unexpectedly rising into the air Fixed merchants sinking underground Reduced walking through walls, stepping into empty space, and wandering off

Save System Improvements

Added protection against save failures.

If saving fails, you can choose to:

Try saving again Return to the game and keep playing

Choosing "Exit Without Saving" now requires an additional confirmation, reducing progress lost through accidental actions.

Dynamic Language Display Fixes

Fixed some dynamic text not updating to match the selected language.

This includes:

Mouse button hints Controller button hints Both the old and new key binding screens Online status Session status Game status

This text now displays correctly in the current language.
