Planet Killer Patch v1.1.0 Co-op Launch
Planet Killer v1.1.0 Patch Notes
Welcome back Commanders. This is our first major content patch since release and I'm excited to share it with everyone. I've gotten a ton of great feedback and suggestions for quality of life features, fixes, and things to make the game more exciting and continue improving the replayability. This patch also brings the new 2 player Co-op feature, you can play on the same machine with one person on Mouse and Keyboard and the other on a controller. You can also use Steam Remote play to try the mode with anyone! There's been a few new mechanics added, in addition to some balance changes. Leaderboards have been reset again due to this. The game should feel pretty fresh even if you've already put in 50+ hours so far, and with the co-op mode this should add endless fun with friends.
New: 2-Player Co-op
Take on the galaxy together in a new co-op mode, playable with Steam Remote Play. Each player chooses a ship, while both share an inventory, wingmen, and rewards. You’ll need to decide how to divide the galaxy’s resources between your ships, but together you’ll bring a lot more firepower to each fight.
Planet difficulty is increased in co-op, and the mode has its own leaderboards. Let’s see which duo can become the best Planet Killers.
New Features and Changes
Stock weapons can now roll at any rarity instead of being restricted to certain rarities. Epic and legendary rolls should be much more exciting to find. Reworked how weapon damage, DPS, and burst damage are calculated in tooltips and stats so the numbers better match what happens in battle. Added weapon velocity to tooltips, showing muzzle velocity and projected impact speed. Missiles generally accelerate after launch. Command Ships have a new class trait. They still have no cooldown on fleet rally, and now have a 20% chance to redirect an entire incoming hit to a random wingman in the fleet. Added the Forged mechanic: upgrade an item enough and it gains a stronger bonus. You can now upgrade an item multiple times in one action instead of dragging it repeatedly. Added an auto-fire toggle. Press Caps Lock to fire weapons automatically. Added loadout comparison tooltips, with arrows to help show how weapons compare. Added a new planet type that can appear after depth 50, with its own graphic. Shops can no longer generate next to each other. Added cursor size and color options in Settings. Ctrl + Click an item to attempt to sell it, or Ctrl + Drag it to the sell bin to sell it without a confirmation dialog. The camera zooms out farther when warping a long distance from a planet. Passive perks in shops are now easier to distinguish from modules. Added lifetime stats for total runs retired and the run retirement bonus multiplier. Per-ship stats now also track how many runs you’ve retired with each ship. Adjusted speed and turn rate upgrades, along with ship movement, so repeated upgrades continue to feel useful without making ships difficult to control. Added more movement details, including ship thrust, to the stat panel. Controller players can now use double-click actions in the inventory. Added 7 new Steam achievements and 2 new handcrafted weapons to find.
Balance Changes
Reduced planet defense laser beam damage scaling by approximately 20%. Slightly reduced planet armor growth beyond depth 70. Increased the skip rewards bonus stat from 5% to 10% . Increased the power of higher-rarity weapons across the board. Reduced credits awarded for destroying enemy ships in the late game. Changed turn rate modifiers from multiplicative to additive.
Bug Fixes
Fixed some generated alien artifact weapon variations being extremely weak. Fixed the rally cooldown counter ticking down too slowly. Fixed a rare crash when buying many items from one shop. Fixed windowed mode not working properly. Fixed an issue where buying two items quickly with the buttons could delete one. Fixed an issue where buying a shop item could also purchase a nearby item. Fixed a rare case where a weapon impact on a planet would not display a damage number. Fixed procedural charge-up beam weapons displaying overly precise charge times, such as 1.438347 seconds. Fixed ship speed and movement stats displaying incorrectly on the loadout screen. Fixed enemy ships awarding their credit reward twice.
