Quantris is out in Early Access
Quantris is out in Early Access on Windows, Mac and Linux.
How it plays
A Hadamard block puts the piece it touches into superposition. Pieces that share a gate become entangled. Nothing is settled until you drop an Observe block, and then every entangled piece collapses at once. A line clears only when every block in it has been observed and they all came out the same way: all there, or all gone.
You don't need any physics to play. The tutorial starts with the controls, and the first time you meet each quantum piece in Marathon, Sprint or Ultra, a short note says what it does.
Spins and rotation
If you come from other falling-block games, the basics work the way you're used to. Rotation is SRS+, the same as TETR.IO, 180s included, and the pieces come from a 7-bag with the quantum blocks dealt in alongside. Every piece but the O can spin, and spins reward skill: a spin next to quantum blocks raises the multiplier on that whole group when it's observed.
What's in Early Access
- Six single-player modes: Marathon, Sprint, Ultra, Flux, Puzzle Vault and VS AI.
- Co-op and head-to-head for two players on one machine, with two controllers or a shared keyboard.
- Online play, with a friend by room code or anyone from the public room list.
- Leaderboards and replays for the various game modes, online matches included.
- Full controller support with remappable buttons and keys, and handling you can tune: DAS, ARR, DCD, soft drop speed and lock delay.
Two things to know on day one
- Steam progress starts fresh. It isn't linked to your browser account yet.
- The 62 achievements are in-game for now. Steam achievements come in a later update. (Achievements might change before transitioning from Early Access to Release)
There's a launch discount of 20% until November 12.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who played it in a browser, broke it, and helped refine gameplay. The whole game has been shaped by your feedback, keep it coming. I'll post what changed here with each update. Bugs go in the Steam discussions or in #feedback on Discord.
